Acuvirus puts Algerian mobile phones under a threat

Mobile phone industry is modernized day by day. The new mobile devices become more and more complicated and have more and more different functions. At the present moment there exist more than 60 various viruses, worms, Trojan horses that infect mobile phones and other mobile devices (pocket PCs, smartphones, etc.) For a long period of time mobile viruses were treated as something that doesn't exist in real life, however in the last 3-5 years the community realized the seriousness of this problem.
According to a popular Algerian daily newspaper, Al-Khabar, millions of Algerian mobile phone users may be affected by a dangerous mobile virus which possesses a strange name - "acuvirus". The virus appeared in the internet and is claimed to infect mobile phones through WAP or GPRS connections, when a user connects to the Internet to download files or read e-mail. The virus distributes its malicious code rather quickly causing mobile phone data crash and also other parts of the mobile device are affected (SIM card, battery compartment). Acuvirus is activated immediately after making a phone call inside the same network or between two different mobile operators. When the phone rings, the name of the virus "acuvirus" or also "A.C.U" appears on the phone screen. It is not recommended to pick up the receiver when you see such an inscription. The Algerian Post and Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ARPT) has put the acuvirus under a serious investigation to find effective ways to cease the quick process of its distribution. The first antivirus software company which revealed and neutralized malware on Symbian and Windows CE mobile operating systems was Kaspersky Lab. Now the company has developed various scripts to guard mobile phone users from mobile viruses. There is a specifically-designed program called Kaspersky Anti-Virus Mobile, which doesn't require much CPU resources in comparison with other similar programs available. Another popular mobile phones anti virus tool is AirScanner Mobile AntiVirus Pro, a professional anti-virus and Trojan horses scanner. No secret that PDA devices and smartphones have become rather popular lately. Of course the risk of getting infected by numerous mobile viruses has also become greater. Mobile AntiVirus Pro program includes a set of modern scripts able to deflect viruses, Trojan horses, malware and spyware threats. The program consists of an easy-to-use detection tool, a user-friendly registry viewer, system memory stats program, etc. F-Secure, another notable antivirus software developer, also offers Mobile Anti-Virus solutions. Their Mobile Anti-Virus program is recognized as one of the most effective products specifically created to protect mobile phones and pocket PCs against malicious mobile code, unsolicited e-mail messages, etc. F-Secure Mobile Antivirus provides real-time protection of your mobile device with online updates available. F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus was developed to be as user-friendly and easy-to-use as possible. Automatic scanner regularly checks all files on the hard disk to prevent virus infections.
