The term water magic is often used in relation to the potential of utilising water as a means of divination. Because water is a natural component of the human body it lends itself to influences from celestial elements in particular from the Moon our closest satellite. It is a recognized fact that human behaviour can be influenced by the position of the Moon together with the visible picture that its presents, for example a full Moon appears to increase behavioural sensitivities in humans sometimes by promoting aggressiveness, impulsiveness or eccentricities.
Water magic may sound sexier to some while for those seeking practical advice it may present an unattractive term that detracts people interested in a concepts of divination. Yet hydromancy possibly offers a significant form of divination simply because its basic component - water, is a fundamental part of human existence.
In a universe in which every physical particle creates a ripple affect that stimulates every other physical particle it seems reasonable to suggest that the element water probably influences human behaviour more than most since the composition of the human body is about 75% water. With this thought in mind the term 'water magic' might then be viewed as recognition from a bygone age of the true significance that water possesses in all aspects of life to human existence. Hence the suggestion that water comprises magical components may be stretched to include a life giving ingredient that supports physical life as we know it.
Appreciating that water has a significant role to play in the physical dimension might not be easily translated into meaning that it also plays a role in the spiritual dimension. However the interaction played between the physical and spiritual dimensions suggest that some elemental relevance to both, as recognized by the astrological use of elements in the composition of for example character traits occurs. Astrology is a discipline that attempts to translate the celestial cycles and patterns that prevail, themselves a consequence of the interaction of all universal resources that perform together ignoring divisions in place between dimensions.
Hydromancy or water magic certainly has the flexibility to perform a significant role in both the physical and spiritual dimensions and thereby potentially possesses an important place in divinations. It seems unlikely that the spiritual dimension requires water to nourish itself in the same way as water is required in this physical plain however the fact that human body content comprises 75% water suggests that something from the spiritual dimension relating to water is passed onto the physical dimension in order that some form of at least one-way communication (Spiritual to Physical) remains active.
For this reason it seems possible that divination techniques using water such as hydromancy may possess links to the spiritual dimension that have yet to be fully understood but which may ultimately prove one of the most accurate methodologies by which divination is possible.
