The Catholic Purgatory

Added: 11/16/2006

The Catholic Purgatory is known as the place that souls go after someone dies where they become purified to enter heaven. Catholic Purgatory is where souls are groomed for heaven. The Purgatory bible is not one that details what one needs to do to enter heaven. The Purgatory bible does not describe detailed deeds. The Catholic Purgatory is a doctrine that is part of the Roman Catholic Church.

The Catholic Purgatory is known as the place that souls go after someone dies where they become purified to enter heaven. Catholic Purgatory is where souls are groomed for heaven. The type of punishment in Catholic Purgatory is that of temporal punishment to forgive ones sin. It is not like eternal punishment where one goes to hell. It is more of a cleansing of the sins so that the soul can then enter into the eternal gates of heaven. Some people will be in Purgatory for longer than others, it all depends on what they have done and if they have confessed their sins and can be forgiven. Since the time frame for all people to spend in Purgatory is of varying length, it depends on the sin that was committed and what needs to be done to make up for it. Catholic Purgatory is also known as the prayer for the dead and hoping that with prayers will come forgiveness so that these souls can enter the gates of heaven.

The Purgatory bible does not spell this out. The Purgatory bible is not mentioned as part of the process. For this reason, it is part of the Roman Catholic teachings that you need to have your sins acknowledged and forgiven in order to enter heaven. Only people that were saints go directly to heaven, because they have no sins that they needed forgiven so they do not have to go to Purgatory. The others that have committed sins must have them forgiven and that happens when they enter the Catholic Purgatory until they are purified and the sin is washed from them.

The term of Purgatory came about in the year 1254. It is the place that the soul goes for having committed venial sins and were not forgiven while they were on earth. Many pray for their departed so that they go to heaven and rest in peace as soon as they possibly can if they are in Purgatory. They believe that with these prayers that the soul will be purified sooner and go to heaven to rest in peace. The more prayers they can offer for them the better it is for the soul that has departed. People pray for their deceased loved ones and friends and family in many ways, in masses and in individual prayers that they send up to God for their departed friends and family.

The Catholic Purgatory is a doctrine that is part of the Roman Catholic Church. It is known that anyone who goes to Purgatory will eventually go to heaven after they have made amends for their sins while they were on earth after they were baptized. They can make amends for them and it is the process of purifying them to go to heaven. That is why it is so important in the Catholic religion to be baptized, as that takes away the sins that all humans are born with. After that you are not to sin or you have to make amends for it while you are in this world or later when you go to Catholic Purgatory. The Catholic religion has the Ten Commandments that are to be followed while one is living on earth. Following the Ten Commandments and living a good and decent life shall make the stay in Catholic Purgatory shorter for many people that depart. That is why it is so important to do good deeds while one is living on earth.
