The Senoi are referred to as the bestial aborigine. The Senoi were often sold into slavery as well. The Senoi were caught in the middle of conflicts that occurred between the British Empire and the other local peoples of Malaysia. Unless kidnapped and sold into slavery, most of the Senoi never travel very far outside of their tribes. They are very local and steeped into local tradition. In fact, few of the Senoi, if undisturbed, ever wander more than several miles away from their homes. They are a very basic people that lead very basic lives. Senoi culture is a naturally closed culture that shows disdain for the outside world. They are fixed nomads that live off of the land and travel short distances breaking and setting their home camps. The Senoi preoccupy themselves with farming matters and the land that they spend their lives tending to. The Senoi love land as if it were their very flesh and blood, but they subsist by hunting as well. In fact, they are very primitive archetypes of the hunter-gatherer. They are deadly enough with darts and blowpipes to kill Rhino's, though they usually hunt very small prey such as rodents and marsupials. Senoi meals consist of what they grow or catch, and are often cooked and cleaned by the women and children. The Senoi don't trifle much with the outside world, but are not usually upset by it. They quietly tend to their fields and their families and their small parcels of land, and go about their daily routines with little thought as to what surrounds them.
They are very reminiscent of the American Indian and other such tribal cultures. While they are generally peaceful, some tribes do in fact war with each other and sell each other out to outside forces.
Although the Senoi lifestyle seems very tranquil, there are still social behaviors that are dangerous. They sometimes quarrel and as was mentioned before, they have been apt to sell one another into slavery, and of course there's that poison dart blowpipe thing. All told it is quite amazing that such a primitive society have developed such a deep and profound psychological exploration as the dream theory which they all espouse. Perhaps there is something deeper to it, something preternatural or Godly, I don't know, but it is quite profound and belittling to think that such deep pools of thought could come from such a simple culture.
Ultimately the Senoi are masters of their own fate that rule small patches of land that they probably believe to be the whole world, maybe the whole universe, but they are held together by a common belief that there is another world, a subconscious one that controls us all.
