Human Characteristics of the Face and Relation to Physiognomy

What meaning do we give to physiognomy? Physiognomy is a science of the folk. It is based upon the assumption that the appearance outwardly of a person especially their facial appearance holds the key to that person's form of character and personality traits within them. Nowadays, everyone worries about their appearance, cosmetic surgery, dental surgery, colored contacts, bleached and colored hair, these are things every one of us do to make ourselves more accepted in our society we live in.

The beliefs and practices on physiognomy in ancient times, was based on and still is, the appearance outwardly of a person looks like to determine what that person must be like.

The 18th and 19th Centuries saw increasing popularity to physiognomy. Its belief was used by many notable English authors and artists of portraits in those days. Appearance was definitely important then, and it is funny how that has not changed throughout the ages.

Features of the face are used in determining someone's character traits and related to physiognomy. It has also been known as reading of the face too. The forehead is one of the important spots in reading a face in relation to physiognomy.

Over 4,000 years of development to physiognomy has been in the works in the Western and the Eastern cultures. The writings of Plato, Aristotle and Hippocrates referred to physiognomy.

Spirit, the body and the mind are all in connection and synch with each other. The wrinkles we carry on our faces are our best storyteller of our lives. Every painful and joyous emotion we have ever felt throughout our lives shows up in the wrinkles we carry with us in our older years.

Even the hairs texture, the hair line, double chins, floppy jowls and the placement of moles all different meanings to physiognomy.

A person's complexion on the face shows their health state. If the skin tone is of rosy color then that person is affectionate, romantic and positive. If the tone of the skin is of dark or dull color then that person is someone who is artistic, adventurous, imaginative, a bit broody sometimes and amorous sexually. A person whose tone of skin is reddish often has high blood pressure and is of quick temper and prone to fiery outburst.

This art of reading the face to physiognomy is crucial to learn if you are in the position of hiring people or making new clients. Other career choices could benefit highly from physiognomy also.
