In most cases people dream while they are involved in R.E.M. sleep. R.E. M. stands for Rapid Eye Movement and it is usually during Rapid Eye Movement that most people dream .It is claimed by sleep and dream experts that R.E.M. sleep lasts between two and three hours per night. It is also claimed that people usually have weird dreams right after they fall asleep at night or just before they wake up in the morning. In fact, it has been claimed that all types of dreams occur during the times just mentioned above.
