In March of 2003, when the first Native American woman died while fighting for her country, no reporter made mention of the Iroquois who put much effort into changing the former policy of the U.S. government. At the start of the Civil War, the government refused to recruit Native American, male youth. One man helped change that policy. You can read about him in the following article.
