Do You Know What Causimomancy Is?

The belief that an object simply burns when exposed to fire is revisited as the divination brought about from an object's behavior under fire is the practice called causimomancy. Causimomancy is practiced by fortune tellers and other occult practitioners using anything that will burn; including humans. Other common pieces that have been used in this practice include salt, animals, sticks, incense and leaves.
It is considered a good omen when something combustible doesn't' ignite in causimomancy. When this technique is used, the objects are placed in a fire. If they do not ignite or if they happen to burn very slow, then this is a sign, it is a sign of a bad omen. This ancient belief system takes pride in practicing strictly supernatural readings of natural things. This is why it is not necessary that a certain object be used; anything can be burned practically. The one looking for an omen can bring anything he/she wants. The fact that Causimomancy is reliant on "magic" and "mystery" makes it an alluring way to determine what will happen in life. This is meant for those who are solid in their beliefs, though, as it is easy to be pulled into an occult lifestyle.

It's fun to use an ouija board and ask it questions. Every one giggles and pretends to move the pieces to "trick" the others, but what happens when the board really "speaks"? It's also entertaining to light a candle and tell ghost stories, but one is dangerous and one is not. Is this because there might be some truth to the fact that Causimomancy is real?

It's difficult to believe that a good or bad omen can be foretold simply by lighting something on fire and "reading" its response. But, the act of engaging in such trickery will leave us susceptible to other practices that ARE real. The supernatural, having been reported in such detail and depth by so many people is believed by more than many initially claim. The spirit world, I believe, is real; our ability to contact it and converse with it; not real.

Causimomancy is an ancient practice that began in Greece. Because fire was so important in the early societies, there was an automatic divination assigned to it. A form of pyromancy, the "divination by fire", Causimomancy is considered to be the oldest and possibly the first forms of divination. Because it is not necessary to specify a certain object to be burned, many things have been used to determine a good or bad omen.

It would seem that if you wished for a good omen, that something like a stick would not be used, as they burn slowly and don't really ignite. However, if the divinatory used a leaf, or piece of paper that does ignite and burn quickly, it's a sure thing to guarantee a good omen - isn't it?

The importance of fire for many cultures has caused the practice of Causimomancy to be used more than any of form of divination. Of the others, all are similar in that they use the natural energies all around them to interpret things for others. Healings have taken place miraculously and catastrophies have been avoided for thousands as the energies are interpreted and read by those with "psychic" eyes. Someone once said that there are things that are known and things that are unknown, and that in between were the doors...using these "doors" is how the information travels, or how the travelers go to the information...either way, the information you want is right at your fingertips if you practice Causimomancy...just make sure they don't get burned.
