Astrology Of Alice Bailey

Added: 11/27/2006

Alice Bailey is perhaps the queen of esoteric astrology. She's certainly one of the best known female astrologers of all time. Though most people practice and follow exoteric astrology, esoteric astrology is a more personalized version of astrology, call it the philosophy of astrology that helps to guide the soul.

Alice Bailey is widely known as the queen of esoteric astrology, and is by far the greatest female practitioner of esoteric philosophy, if not the best know esoteric astrologer of all time. Esoteric astrology is the astrology of the soul, which follows the ascending sign that the zodiac was in. The ascending sign, also known as the rising sign, is the place where the zodiac was in the East at the exact time you were born. Most people practice and follow exoteric astrology, which is the astrology that follows the standard zodiac you were born under. It is the astrology you see in the daily newspaper when you read your horoscope. It represents the mind, probable actions, tendencies and the like. Esoteric astrology represents the soul. It gives readings based on the way you'll feel and reads what you're likely to do based on the emotion you feel at any given moment. Alice Bailey was the foremost astrologer probably to date when it comes to esoteric astrology. Bailey's esoteric astrology is still regarded today as well ahead of its time. Bailey was a huge contributor to more than just the advancement of astrology; she is also largely credited with being one of the first to employ a mysticism now referred to as new age.

New Age philosophy is a vast philosophy now, growing by leaps and bounds every year. It is a mystic based philosophy focusing on the health of the soul. New age philosophy has many different versions and faiths behind it, but its creation is largely accredited to Bailey, who focused all of her work on the health and recognition of the soul's importance to the overall health of the human being. Alice Baileys writings in particular are considered to be the starting point of new age mysticism, so while she was the mother of esoteric astrology, she was assuredly the grandmother of new age mysticism. Her writings are credited with laying the foundation for new age mysticism today, though they were marred with a penchant to express anti-semitic views, her views on the development, nurturing, and general ideas on the health of the soul were groundbreaking in the early nineteen hundreds. They were so far ahead of their time that her last book was published forty-three years after her death in nineteen eighty-two. She published a number of books that are and were widely read that concerned both astrology and her personal views on philosophy. They were as follows:
The Consciousness of the Atom ---1922, The Soul and its Mechanism ---1930, From Intellect to Intuition ---1932, From Bethlehem to Calvary ---1937, The Unfinished Autobiography --- 1951, The Labors of Hercules--- 1974, The Labours of Hercules: An Astrological Interpretation --- 1982
She also wrote about twice as many books with a partner named Djwhal Kuhl.
All told, between her contributions to astrology, philosophy, and new age mysticism, Alice Bailey might be the greatest figure in modern astrology. At the very least she will be remembered as the Queen Mother of esoteric astrology, and the founder of New Age principles.
