Why is it that so many early mathematicians appear to have a fascination with mathematics and astrology? Is it because astrology lends itself so easily to mathematical calculations or something less visibly obvious? An early mathematician who appears to have been attracted to the mathematics wound up in astrology is Johann Kepler.

One of the most celebrated astrologers was Johannes Kepler. Johannes Kepler was a Lutheran who contributed much to the field of astrology, including becoming the father of celestial mechanics, which correctly explained planetary motion. Kepler's views were widely accepted and respected. Johannes Kepler did many more things for the field of astrology, too.
