You Gotta Play Famous People

There is the regular boring way to play charades and then there is the Famous People way to play charades and the Famous People way is much more interesting. The pace in Famous People is very fast and the action can get pretty hilarious. All you need is the board game Famous People and a group of friends that are willing to do anything to get their point across in a group.
Do you do impressions? Can you act? Are you good at acting out entire scenes of movies by yourself? If you answered no to these questions, and you love charades, then you need to play Famous People the board game. When you play Famous People you can act, scream, jump around, do impressions, and do pretty much anything else you can think of to get your team to guess the names of various celebrities. When you play Famous People you and your team are given a bunch of famous people as clues and it is up to you to give your team as many clues as you can to help them guess as many celebrities as they can in only 60 seconds. The winner is the team that can guess the most celebrities throughout the game and when you play Famous People it can get completely out of control if you let it. Have you ever wondered what it would look like if Uncle Fred tried to impersonate Britney Spears? If you play Famous People you just may find that out and be warned, you may not like what you see.

When you play Famous People you are given celebrities broken down into six categories. The first is television stars and this can be anyone from sitcom stars to well known new personalities and anyone in between. This is the part of the game where you find out how good your friend’s Johnny Carson impression really is. Next we have musicians and the potential for air guitar, or any other air instrument, is extremely high in this one. If you are lucky you may even get to hear your closest friends singing and it may be something you never want to hear again. The third category is athletes and this just has fun written all over it. Even though athletes are put on the highest pedestals in our society very few of them have any discernable public personas that anyone can imitate much less have a group of people guess what they are trying to imitate. Think about it, everyone knows who Derek Jeter is but without being able to say his name how in the world would you impersonate him or give a clue who he is?

Possibly the easiest category to act out and give clues in would be the fictional characters category. A fictional character is created, and becomes popular, based on their unique characteristics and it should be quite easy to get someone to guess Underdog or Batman if the correct clues are given. Fictional characters could also be the most fun as many fictional characters also have some of the more amusing traits in entertainment. The next category is movie stars and this one can be amusingly confusing if not done right. If you try and act out the actor’s famous roles you may be at it for more than just 60 seconds so you need to either act out their most famous roles or become really creative in your clue giving skills. Movie stars are tough too because many of them are identified by the roles they play and sometimes you know who an actor is by looking at them but you don’t know their name. Take for example the cyborg in the movie Aliens the sequel to the movie Alien. Everyone has seen that actor in a lot of movies since Aliens but did you know his name is Lance Henriksen? Try acting that one out. The last category is historical figures and this could be the biggest source of frustration in the entire game. How do you act out people that have potentially been dead for decades, or even centuries, and all we have to go on is some parodies we have seen on television? Sometimes this Famous People game is not as easy as it may sound.

So that is how you play Famous People and it can be a great deal of fun for any size group. You will definitely find out who the pop culture junkies are in your circle of friends with a game like Famous People and you can also find out who has any talent at all. You may even learn things you never knew about people you have known for years. Either way, time spent playing Famous People could prove to be time very well spent indeed.
