Feminism and women’s rights organizations have battled for equality among the sexes for generations. In the United States, women did not always have the right to vote, run for office or hold certain jobs that men were allowed to. A lot has changed, however even in America, men are most often paid more money for the same job that a woman will do. There is still a need for women’s rights to try to spread equality. As long as there are women who fight for what is right, hate speech is an element that will not go away.
In some other countries, women are severely oppressed and have almost no rights whatsoever. Hate speech may not be as prevalent; as women are usually not allowed to speak out for what they believe in. Many believe these women are brainwashed, in a way, not knowing what true equality can be like. Feminists and women’s rights groups will continue to battle to try and bring equality to women in countries that oppress them.
When women speak out regarding the oppression of women, hate speech is brought into the picture, when men are angered and say that women are anti-men. Free speech is most certainly allowed in the United States, but hate speech is often violently abusive, threatening and intimidating.
Some will say that feminists have their own hate speech. Some will argue that hate speech is found throughout women’s rights group. This is up for much debate. Women will say that asking and demanding equality cannot be considered hate speech. Men, who believe that feminists are trying to take away the rights of fathers, will say that it is women who give out hate speech.
Some feminists will turn to hate speech and this is ultimately detrimental to their causes. The root of feminism and women’s rights is not to hate men; it is to have women be treated as equals. Since there are only two sexes on this world, and it is necessary for the procreation of the Earth for men and women to be together, hate speech is a waste of time and goes against what nature has intended.
Some will say that hate speech should be accepted, as they feel it will keep a person from being physically violent. These days, hate speech can spread around the world very quickly via the Internet. One idea of hate speech can trigger hate speech from millions of people. The Internet has many benefits, but unfortunatey hate speech can quickly spread in this way. With blogs, chat rooms, instant messages and so many websties, a hate speech can be seen across the world wtihin minutes. Some will argue that in most cases, the answer to hate speech is not suppression, but more speech. They will say that in this way, at least the actions remain verbal. Perhaps one day, we can all agree to disagree, if we must, and hate speech can be eradicated.
