Why A Christian Married Couple Makes Christian Choices

Although a future Christian married couple may not refer to the dresses in their wedding as "christian dresses" or call the songs they play during their reception party "christian wedding songs," the truth is that their choice of those dresses and songs is probably strongly influenced by the couple's Christian heritage. Part of the joy of planning a wedding ceremony is being able to connect with the history of the religious groups, the social and cultural sects, and the geographic areas that we are a part of. Our backgrounds, Christian or otherwise, influence every choice we make when we plan a wedding ceremony.

A future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding face a lot of decisions and quandaries before the ceremony and reception are completely settled and they have nothing to do but look forward to their lives as a Christian married couple.  They have to choose appropriate Christian dresses, Christian wedding songs, a Christian church in which to wed, and hundreds of other choices will have to be made about everything from Christian shoes to Christian napkins.

However, the a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding will likely not call these the dresses worn by female members of the wedding party "Christian dresses," nor will they be likely to refer to the music which they play during their wedding ceremony and at the wedding reception party later as "Christian wedding songs" but will probably call these things dresses and songs, without Christian as a descriptor.  However, because the future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding are Christian, it follows suit that everything they choose is in some sense part of a Christian tradition as well.

In the midst of the hectic situation of being a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding, it is likely that the lucky twosome will not be aware of how much the Christian wedding tradition influences every choice that they make as they plan their special day.  It can be easy to take for granted that the choices a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding are standard, normal choices, rather than choices which come out of hundred years of religious tradition which belong to a specific sect of society.  But, the truth is that there is nothing more normal or standard about the choices a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding than there is something normal or standard about the choices which a future Muslim married couple who are in the midst of planning their Muslim wedding make about any aspect of their ceremony.

One reason why a wedding day is so special for a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding is that it allows them to integrate centuries of tradition into their modern lives.  When a couple plans their wedding and incorporates many traditions from their religious and cultural background, they keep those traditions alive for another generation of future couples that will someday marry.

We may not always be aware of why we make the choices we do, but often it is because those choices tie us to our heritage in some way.  The choices which we make when planning a ceremony like a wedding link us with our heritage as members of a religious tradition, as members of a societal class, as residents of an area of the world, and even as representatives of our gender.

The chances are quite high that, although they may not be consciously aware of it, a future Christian married couple who are in the midst of planning their Christian wedding will make countless choices which link them with their heritage as members of the Christian tradition.
