Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976 in New Orleans, Louisiana to a doctor and a nurse. Her father John Witherspoon was a military surgeon and her mother Betty Reese was a nurse who later earned her Phd degree in the field of pediatric nursing. Reese began modeling and doing television commercials as early as age 7 and by age 11 she had won a major talent competition. In 1990, at the age of 14, she started appearing in major motion pictures and her first role was a critically acclaimed role in the movie The Man In The Moon which led to roles in such major motion pictures as A Far Off Place, Jack The Bear, and the award winning comedy Freeway. Her happy good looks, and bubbling attitude, soon started getting her roles in other major motion pictures and some made for television movies such as Wildflower.

Reese Witherspoon did not limit herself to movies as she had a small recurring role on the very popular situation comedy Friends and she also added her voice to the very popular animated series King Of The Hill for two episodes. Reese Witherspoon’s resume also includes an extremely long list of television appearances on late night shows like The Tonight Show and The David Letterman Show and in 2001 Reese Witherspoon even got to host an episode of Saturday Night Live. She has made numerous appearances on the major award shows on television and she has also been a recurring guest on shows like The Ellen Degeneres Show and Live With Regis And Kathie Lee. Reese Witherspoon had her first real major motion picture hit with the smash comedy Legally Blonde in 2001 when she played the lead character Elle Woods. Legally Blonde is about a girl that gets dumped by her boyfriend and decides to go to law school to follow him and try to win him back. When she gets to law school she realizes that she has more natural legal talent than she ever imagined and she soon begins to enjoy a successful law career. Financially Legally Blonde was a huge success and it launched Reese Witherspoon into the status of A-list Hollywood star. Reese Witherspoon was so tied to the success of the movie that she was allowed to produce the sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, And Blonde. The sequel did not match the financial success that the original did but it still made a profit and helped Reese Witherspoon’s star to rise even higher.

In 2005 Reese Witherspoon realized every actor’s dream when she won the Oscar for best leading actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the huge hit Walk The Line.
