What is a party without a fun and interesting party game? One really very simple yet fun and fascinating party game is 'Who in the world am I?' It costs absolutely nothing to play and can be a great way to get your party guests to mingle and interact. Make it a fun ice breaker or make it the highlight of your party event, it works well in both circumstances, and is very simple to do.
So, how does one go about preparing for an exciting round of “Who in the world am I?” There are different variations, but we’ll start with one very simple to execute one. You start by figuring out how many guests are going to be coming. You then take some scratch pieces of paper (the same as the number of guests with perhaps a couple of extras). You then write down the name of a famous historical person or perhaps a modern day celebrity on each scratch piece of paper and put them all into a bowl or hat or some other object.
When your guests start to arrive ask them kindly to each take a scratch piece of paper, but not to look at it. You will pin it on the back of his or her shirt Explain that you are playing “Who in the world am I?” The point of the game is for everyone to mingle with everyone else as this character. The other people at the party will drop little clues about who you’re character is during conversation. The purpose of the game is to try to guess what character you are.
You can have this game have prizes for the winners. Maybe you give a prize to the first person to figure out who in the world they are, or perhaps for the first three. Prizes aren’t necessary, though, you could just have it be a fun way for the people at your party to get to know each other and break the ice a little.
This is only one version of the game. You could also have only yourself and perhaps a couple of other guests be characters. In this version of “Who in the world am I?” you know exactly who you are. As the other guests arrive, inform them that you and whoever else you have playing characters are playing a game. Tell them that as the party progresses you will be dropping different clues as to who you are for the entire party. You can even have some decorations or items around that also provide clues as to your identity.
For this version of the game the winner is not the person who realizes who they are but for the first person in the party to guess as to your identity. Again you can give out a prize for the winner, or just use it as a fun little game to get everyone talking and chatting amongst themselves.
As said, preparation for the game is really quite simple, you can do it as one of the last things on your “to do” list before the guests arrive, or you can have it done in advance. This will save on your having to worry about coming up with names ten minutes before the guests are scheduled to arrive!
Parties can be great fun, and providing a little ice breaker game at the beginning can serve as a great way to introduce people who might not be known to each other. After all, when you know the people you are partying with it is always so much more fun. You can combine this simple little ice breaker games with other games if you like later on. It might be basic but it is simple to execute and is always enjoyed by all. Make your next party a memorable one with an exciting round of “Who in the world am I?”
