Feminism, what is it really? We have all heard it before in one way or another. “That man is being a feminist pig!” But in reality there are a lot of people that are feminists in one way or another. Basically feminism is a group of people whether socially, or some other way, are arguing against the ones who are discriminating against women or who believe women should not have some rights that they already have or that would like to have. An example would be the right to choose abortion. There are some men that actually believe that women are inferior to them. This is especially true for some in other countries. Men in some countries believe that women should not hold any type of job what so ever and there place should be with the children at home, or doing their husbands bidding. You can actually tell this by the way they dress and cover themselves. They are not even allowed to show their selves in any way shape or form to anyone except for their eyes. There are even some that comes to the United States that are from another religion or they are from another country and they still dress as they are supposed to even though they are in the US. Feminists and the different feminism form fights against this.

Depending on the age and when a person becomes an active feminist depends on what actual wave of feminism a person is in. There are actually three waves so far at this time, the first wave are the oldest, and the primary feminists who were first active, the second wave came around the 1960’s while the third wave (right now) are the younger feminists. The second and third waves are still active and possibly some from the first all though many have handed it down to the second and third waves.

The first feminism form is the liberals and basically they are fighting for both men and women to be treated equally both legally and politically and they actual use the legal system and politics to fight. This feminism form believes that both men and women can work the same, have the same work ethics, etc. This feminism form also fights for the right for voting, sexual harassment, education and also the most publicized reproduction and abortion rights. They believe it’s the woman’s choice. This feminism for is the most individualistic for the different forms.

The radical feminism form technically believes that there is no way women can actually set themselves free unless the severely domineering men and society are done away with. They believe that there is a sexist hierarchy who is to blame for it all. They also believe that there is no change for change unless society in the whole reconstructs itself. This feminism form seems to uphold its name for its radical opinion of feminism.

The feminism form that believe women are being held back and held down in both the work place and on the domestic end are the socialist. This form believes that men and the patriarchs of a family devalue women through marriage, prostitution and many other things. There main focus is changing society in the whole and not target individual people or places. They believe that this will affect everyone not just certain people.

The last feminism form is ecofeminism who actually base their feminist views with ecology (the relations between organisms and their environment). This feminism form believes that men and/or their patriarch are the blame for ruining both women and the natural environment. They also believe that men make women look and feel less than what they are; pawns, and they take advantage of that.

In reality, feminism and feminism form is all around us one way shape or form. If you believe in feminism and what each feminism form fights for then you believe that this is the men’s world and that they make no room for women in it. I guess if you look in the grand scheme of things this could be partly true in the corporate world for some companies, all though they will deny it to the end, believe that women can’t run an office and/or corporation better than men. Personally all women should be of the feminism forms out there, they are fighting for our freedom, and in our honor, when some of us are too “chicken” to go out and fight for ourselves. All women out their should support them in some way shape or form.
