How many of you know how West Virginia Day became to be? Well to find the answer to this question you will have to go back into time, and I mean way back. You have to go back to a time before there was a West Virginia; to a time when it was just Virginia. To find this day you would have to go all the way back to the America Civil War. During this time Virginia chose to side with the Confederacy. Of course, the more northern states did not want to join such a battle on the southern side, so they chose to break away from Virginia. Thus the state of West Virginia was made, and on this day, West Virginia Day came about. So you can see why this is such a big deal to the people in West Virginia. This is a day for them to talk about when they became their own great state. West Virginia Day is a time to look at all the history that one state has to offer. It was not easy for them to break away from each other, but it was something that had to be done. The America Civil War was a hard time for everyone because it put brothers against brothers. There are not too many wars that can do that, but the America Civil War was. Of course, it could not be all bad. If the America Civil War would not of happen, then West Virginia would not be a different state. So there would be no West Virginia Day, thus I would not be writing this article.

West Virginia Day is a time for celebration and joy for everyone. Even if you are not from West Virginia, you still cannot tell me that you do not enjoy this holiday. This is a event that people will come from all around to watch and enjoy. Usually you will see cookouts and fireworks on this day, but that is typical to see at any American celebration. This is a time that people can get together with their families and enjoy themselves. I feel like there is not enough holidays in America. I think we need more days like West Virginia Day to bring people together more often. This is something that we need in this day and age. Too many people go to long without talking with family members and getting together. This can be a day to put all that behind us. This can be a day that everyone enjoys and has a good time on. Even if you are not from West Virginia, you still need to get together with people and celebrate West Virginia Day. If you do this, I am sure you and your family will have a great time.

Of course, this is not a day that only you and your family have to celebrate; this could be a good time to call over your friends. Not everyone gets to hang out with their friends all the time, and sometimes we need a reason to get together. Nothing is better for that reason than a holiday, and no holiday could be better than West Virginia Day. I mean, what else do you have going on, in June on the 20th? Nothing, that is right. There is no reason why you and your family should not get together, and have fun on this day. If you live close to West Virginia, then you really do not have a reason at all. Heck, you can even drive to West Virginia, and celebrate the day with them. West Virginia Day is the perfect day for everyone to get together and have a blast. Why not let your family do the same?
