Finding a destination for your next family vacation can be difficult.  Often times it's hard to determine how well suited an attraction will be to kids and how much it will cost a family of four or more to attend.  Water World Colorado, a family-themed water amusement park with inexpensive admission prices for families, is the perfect place for your next family getaway.

Water World is considered one of America's largest family water parks, as it offers more family inner tube rides than any other park in the United States.  The park, located just outside of Denver, sets on 64 acres of land and contains 42 rides.  It is currently featured on the Travel Channel Top Ten List of best water parks.  It is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day but unfortunately not for world water day in March.

Visitors looking for thrills will enjoy a variety of rides.  And Water World Colorado is home to the Bermuda Triangle, with a 60 foot, three second drop, and the Screamin' Mimi, where guests zoom down a 50' track at speeds of 30 miles per hour before hitting the splash down pool.  There's also the Flatline, Redline and Pipeline, three speed slides that reach 40 miles perhour.  The Flatline is the steepest and tallest of the three, reaching eight stories.

Other rides at Water World Colorado include the Lost River of Pharaohs, which integrates themes, animation and sound effects with the thrill of white water rafting, and the spacebowl, which is a big enclosed slide that twists, turns and swirls you around before dropping you out in to the splashdown pool.  Other park favorites include the Storm, the Wave, Thrill Hill, Tortuga Run, Voyage to the Center of the Earth, and Zoomerang.

For kids, Water World offers CalypsoCoves, which includes spinning buckets, waterslides, waterfalls and more.  It also contains the Fun House, which was the first water funhouse built in the country.  It has over 100 activities and water gags for kids.  The park also includes Wally World, which is just for toddlers.  It's named after Wally, the official water world mascot, and includes waterslides, geysers, waterfalls and tire swings perfect for small children.  For families wanting to ride together, Water World Colorado offers the Ragin' Colorado, the first inner tube ride built in the United States.

For those seeking time to relax, Water World Colorado offers a number of pools for this.  Thunderbay is a wave pool whose size is larger than a football field.  It contains 1.8 million gallons of water and has a depth ranging from zero to eight foot.  They also have Captain Jack's wave pool, which was the 12th wave pool built in the United States.  It contains 500,000 gallons of water and varies in depth also.  For those wanting to relax elsewhere, the lazy river, which is 1,000 feet of calm floating water, is the perfect place for you to drift away in.  To ensure that you don't get cold relaxing in the pools or on the river, the park heats the water temperature between 77 and 80 degrees.

Water World Colorado is 27 years old, and was featured in the movie 'The Surfer King,' which premiered in the United States in April of 2005 just after World Water Day in March.  The movie, about a teenage boy who moves from California to Colorado and get a job at the water park, was written by someone whose two sons actually worked at the water park for eight seasons.  Some of the events depicted in the movie are based on actual occurrences at the park.

If your family is on a budget, but still looking for a great place to hang out, relax and have fun, Water World Colorado is the perfect destination.  With rides catered to families and children, while still offering a few thrill rides for adults, this park will make the perfect location for some family fun in the sun.
