Watch Sister Act (1992) directed by Emile Ardolino who is an American director born on the 9th May, 1943. He was raised in Queens, New York and started his career as an actor in off-Broadway productions but soon he switched to the production side. In the 1970s and 1980s Emile Ardolino worked for PBS, his profiles of dancers and choreographers for their Dance in America and Live from Lincoln Center series won him a total of 17 Emmy Awards. Ardolino won an Academy Award for Best Documentary for the 1983 movie He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin'. He found commercial success with the 1987 sleeper hit Dirty Dancing, and went on to make several other mainstream films. Ardolino died in 1993 of complications from AIDS. His last films, The Nutcracker, (based on George Balanchine's New York City Ballet version), and the television production of Gypsy: A Musical Fable, were released and shown posthumously.

The movie opens at a Catholic elementary school in the mid 20th-Century A young girl, revealed to be the film's main character, is warned against heading down the wrong path due to her behavior in class. The girl is Dolores Van Cartier played by Whoopi Goldberg, a Reno, Nevada lounge singer dating mobster Vince LaRocca played by Harvey Keitel; she is unaware to his criminal activities. But the relationship ends after an argument over dinner concerning the possibility of Vince's marriage ending in divorce. Van Cartier decides to end the relationship, but not before witnessing the death of a supposed spy, Ernie the limo driver, who was seen squealing to the police. Deloris visits the Police and informs them that she is willing to testify against Vince; Lieut. Eddie Souther is put in charge of keeping her safe.
She unwillingly disguises as a nun in a Catholic convent in San Francisco, California, where she wears a habit and is given the name "Sister Mary Clarence". The Mother Superior (Maggie Smith), who takes an instant dislike to Dolores, is only calmed by the funds for the church that has been neglected. While Dolores herself is trying to put up with the strict lifestyle of the convent, Abbess puts her in the convent's choir to keep her from getting into trouble but this is where she shines turning old choirs into new choirs and giving them a fresh look. Despite the protests of the Mother Superior, she brings new energy into the convent and leads it in cleaning up the surrounding neighborhood. Her efforts draw a lot of attention, even from the Pope himself.
The entire scheme is uncovered by Vince and Dolores is kidnapped by Vince’s thugs. Eddie explains everything to the nuns and they agree to help. On the other hand Vince orders Dolores killed; she remains calm and subsequently escapes. The group of nuns then makes Vince gets arrested. The victorious nuns return to San Francisco for the Pope's concert. Dolores eventually returns to her successful singing career.
Watch Sister Act, a very good comedy where one cannot stop from laughing. The movie is well executed, performed and directed.
