It is owned by Cedar Fair L.P. which has opened amusement parks all over the country, including Cedar Point and Castaway Bay in Sandusky, Ohio, Geauga Lake in Aurora, Ohio, Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri and Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon, Michigan. As with any park, height restrictions do apply for safety and many of the rides require that you be 48" or taller, and some require that you be under 54". It is very important for a park to be highly safety-conscious. The park requests that a child not wear platform shoes to help them meet the height requirement. They may even ask for the child to remove their shoes to ensure that they will not get onto rides which are unsafe for them.

There are rides especially designed for children, such as Bumble Bees, Giggle Run, Lil' Guppy, KidWorks Railway, and others. There are also family rides for people of all sizes, such as the Carousel, Ferris Wheel, Scrambler, SuperCat, and others. These rides are all calm compared to the wild experience of the Steel Venom, for example, which towers 185 feet tall and twists forwards, backwards, upwards and downwards on a U-shaped track with a 45-degree corkscrew. It is required that you be 52" or taller for this ride. This can be great fun if you are comfortable with it.

And of course, for those who would rather not be propelled up and down at a great speed or go on a family ride can see one of the shows, such as "Free Ride - Sounds of the '70s", "Cirque De La Loon", "NASCAR: the Imax Experience", "Mapapa African Acrobats", "Ed Alonzo" and "The Squiggles". There is also the Challenge Park area which features miniature golf, bumper boats, go-karts, and the Rip-Cord.

You can purchase a single-day admission, a two consecutive day pass, or a discounted "Starlight" pass after 5pm. You can also purchase season passes if you plan to visit frequently, although this does not cover all the rides, food, merchandise and Challenge Park. If you are going as a group of 25 or more you can purchase a discounted group pass. You can get discounted rates especially for school groups. Valleyfair amusement park can hold catered picnics for your group. You can also hold birthday parties and other special events, there are several packages to choose from.
