The procedures that are supposed to be followed for Cyprus wedding by every couple are as follows:
(a) In the first step the applicants should have legal documents with them for identification like passport or a birth certificate which has to be submitted to the Marriage Officer showing your mutual consent to get married.
(b) The couple is suppose to submit a document confirming they are both single and getting married for the first time. Although if the couple fail to submit such a form or the Marriage Officer feels some kind of inaccuracy to the document than they are suppose to take an oath in front of the Registrar of the District Court. However divorcees have to present the “Decree Absolute” of their dissolved marriage and widows or widowers have to present the “Death Certificate” of their late partner. Also they both have to make a declaration on oath that they have never been married again since then.
(c) When the above formalities are done with the couple should have a wedding in a minimum 15 days or maximum three months since the notice for the marriage has been submitted. If the wedding for some reason is delayed more than 3 months then the documents and certificates submitted to the Marriage Officer are considered to be void.
(d) If the couple wants to have a wedding earlier than 15 days than advance fee can be submitted to have a wedding within 3-4 working days.
(e) A couple receives a marriage certificate after the ceremony. Extra copy of the certificate can also be issued on request.
