You will be better off looking for groups that cater to your specific tastes in music, whether it is opera or hip hop.

There are several different methods that you can use. There are message boards. Message boards are popular because they allow a group of people to communicate in cyber space with each other. The boards are often times at least viewable by the general public so you can take a look at a bunch of the boards before you decide which ones to join.
The social network online also has other outlets. Sometimes there are websites for clubs that and groups that meet in person. If you are looking to get out of the house more and meet people near where you live, this is a fantastic option. You may be able to find groups that you didn't even know existed that you would enjoy right in your own home town. Another way to tap into the social network is to become a member of a news group. A news group is a lot like a message board, but the messages generally are closed to the public. Also, many times, messages from a news group will show up in your email instead of on a board. Not to worry though, reputable newsgroups protect your identity and your email address. Your fellow news-groupers will only know the things about you that you want them to know. As you can see, there are many ways for you to become a part of the social network online. Social networking sites catering to whatever your interest or hobby is abound on the internet and it is up to you to take advantage of the opportunities.
