Unusual Baby Names Aren?t All Bad

Added: 10/11/2005

Weird names are often laughed at when people first hear them, and while many of us may smirk when people in the public eye name their children odd names, but it's sometimes nice to meet a person with an unusual name. Names often broaden our horizons and make us think outside of the box. Naming a child something a bit unusual or different can be a way to make them stand out from the crowd and become someone or something special.

Unusual baby names seem to be very popular among everyone right now, but especially for the Hollywood stars who have children. Unusual baby names are actually somewhat expected from the stars because they've been doing it for so long. Every time a movie star has a baby, everyone sort of listens with anticipation at what they'll think of next. You have to wonder how these kids of these people, those with the unusual baby names, grow up considering that they have such unique names! Odd names and people in the public eye just seem to go together so well that we expect it. Weird names aren't quite as common for those of us who aren't in the public eye, and perhaps that's because we don't have the benefit of having a parent who is a public icon to keep us from being teased for having such an odd name!

Unusual baby names are becoming more and more popular, even for the people who aren't in the public eye. Everyone wants their child to stand out and be unique in some way, and perhaps giving unusual baby names will give them a leg up on being a bit different from the rest later in life. Choosing unusual names doesn't have to be a bad thing though, there are many people out there with unusual names who do quite well and are never teased for having a name that is different from the rest. Weird names are actually quite cool now, as long as they aren't too weird! Sometimes plain names just seem so, well, plain, that it's refreshing to meet someone with a name you've never heard before. This is why many parents choose unusual baby names, because no one likes the idea of naming their child something that will be really common.

Sometimes a persons name can help shape who they are, so why not take a small gamble and think about using unusual baby names with the idea that it could inspire your child to reach a little higher?

Many weird names that stars are using are very old names, or even names associated with nature. These names may sound odd to us, but for whatever reason they make sense and sound beautiful to the naming parent. Many parents are also finding out that they like unusual baby names in other languages. Many English-speaking parents are choosing Korean or Japanese names, because they like the way they sound, and even what they mean. These may be odd names in the United States, and particularly for children who are not Korean or Japanese, but they are awesome names because they sound beautiful and the parents like them.

Who knows, the original sounding name could inspire the child in ways we can only now imagine. Unusual names are popular, and we'll have to look to the future to see the way if affects people over the long term, if at all.
