Typhoon Lagoon in Florida is the sister park of Disney’s Blizzard Beach. Typhoon Lagoon is a fun and relaxing water park that not only allows you to test the waters of adventure with exciting water slides but also to relax and enjoy your time in the sun and water. Typhoon Lagoon features one of the largest wave pools in the world, in which many people enjoy bodysurfing. There is also a living reef with real sharks that you can snorkel around. And for those visitors who enjoy a blissful creek and some time on the inner tube, Typhoon Lagoon has it.
As all of Disney’s parks are, Typhoon Lagoon in Florida is themed around a resort that was once struck by a typhoon. The name of this resort is Placid Palms Resort and is featured throughout the water park. Although Typhoon Lagoon is a water park, its organizers know that visitors will want plenty of shade and entertainment. That is why there are plenty of winding paths and restful areas throughout the park that provide comfort and shade from the hot sun.
As with any other theme park or water park, it is important to plan your trip before you visit Typhoon Lagoon in Florida so that you can make the most of your trip and enjoy the park as much as possible. Before you gain admission, you will want to make sure that your bathing suit does not have any exposed metal, like rivets or buckles. Any such bathing suits will not be allowed on the water slides for safety purposes. It is also important to know that if you have children under the age of 10, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times throughout the park.
A day’s admission to Typhoon Lagoon will cost about $32 plus tax for adults, $28 plus tax for children between 3 and 9, and any child under the age of 3 is allowed entrance with no charge. However, please take note of the weather. Typhoon Lagoon will close during rainstorms and no refunds or exchanges will be offered for admission during these times. Unlike other Disney parks, there is no “park hopping” pass between Disney’s water parks. You must purchase separate admissions for all water parks. There are small fees associated with renting lockers to stow your belongings while you enjoy the park. Typhoon Lagoon also offers towel rental, venues to purchase extra sunscreen, snacks, souvenirs, and waterproof disposable cameras. Life vests are made available free of charge.
Some things to check out at Typhoon Lagoon include several water pools and rides, which provide fun for the whole family. The Crush ‘n’ Gusher is one of the newer water coasters that boasts powerful water jets. The Humunga Kowabunga is one of the most thrilling water slides in the park. The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is fun for everyone with its variation of waves ranging from small and calm to six-foot surfing waves for the ultimate body surfing experience. Ketchakiddie Creek is one of the parks kiddie pools in which toddlers can enjoy fountains and more tame water slides.
