Dale City, Virginia is located in Prince William county in Virginia. There are plenty of things to see and do while in Dale City, Virginia. Several towns are nearby for excursions - Dumfries, Occoquan, Woodbridge, Montclair, and Lake Ridge. Washington DC is twenty three miles northeast of Dale City. The town is included in the Washington DC metropolitan area.

In Dale City, Virginia, you will find a multitude of attractions to keep you busy. There are also many sites in and around the city as well.
Probably the most recognized attraction in Dale City, Virginia is the huge shopping mall, Potomac Mills. The mall opened in September of 1985. The shopping center contains over 225 retail and mainstream stores. They usually offer discounts between thirty and seventy percent. There are several anchor stores located in Potomac Mills. They include Costco, JC Penney, Linens 'N Things, Nike Factory, Nordstrom, Old Navy, Sears, and TJ Maxx. Check your local bus tour company. They bring people from Richmond to Baltimore for some fine shopping and dining. You also receive a coupon book and tickets for prepaid meals.
Also located in Dale City, Virginia right next door to the Center Plaza Shopping Center is th Dale City Farmers Market. This market is popular with local farmers and growers. They sell their vegetables, fruits, baked goods, herbs, honey, and jams. The market is open whether it is raining or sunny. There is plenty of free parking.
Lake Manassas is the place to go if you are looking for tranquiltiy. This beautiful lake is hailed for its freshwater fishing. It is also a lovely spot fo picnics.
Waterworks Waterpark is a popular attraction in Dale City, Virginia. This park includes an aquatic playground, pool entries with sandy beaches, speed slides, and circular slides. For younger children, there is a wading pool.
The temperatures in Dale City, Virginia run between 26 and 88 degrees. January starts out around 26 degrees. April gets warmer at 66. In the summer months, it can get up to 88. And as autumn comes in, the temperatures can go down to 68.
The history of the town is widely seen throughout when you visit Dale City, VA. Te town was name after Cecil “Dale” Hylton. You will find most of the streets not only in alphabetical order, but they will have a “Dale” name in them. Some of them are Mapledale, Nottingdale, Oakdale, Princedale, and so on. The other neat thing about the streets is the community they are in such as Oakdale all start with the letter O. There is also a high school and memorial chapel named after Hylton as well.
For a side excursion, you may want to visit the town of Occoquan. This town was declared a historic landmark in 1988. This is a community of artisans with over 100 shops to visit. They have walking tours you can take to see the whole shopping paradise. The shops include antiques, arts and crafts, and specialty shops for those one of a kind souvenirs. You will enjoy modern shopping and dining against a two hundred year old historical backdrop.
Other cities are close by Dale City as well. Woodbridge is six miles away. Manassas is about twelve. Fairfax is sixteen miles from Dale City. Quantico is ten miles away. Fredericksburg is about twenty six miles away. So if you decide you want to take several side trips, you aren't very far from a major town. Washington DC, being twenty three miles away from Dale City, probably is the best place to start your outside tour. They have a zoo, the Smithsonian, the Pentagon, the US Treasury, the Capitol and White House, and plenty of monuments to marvel at while walking around.
