Tourist Information with Hotel, Manchester, NH

As with any other New Hampshire city, Manchester is a wealth of history and so many things for all to do. There are so many things in which a visitor can do that doing different things on different days in not a problem. We will discuss different things in which you will be able to do in Manchester and hope that with this information you will create memories to share with all.

Let’s start with a little bit of history before going into more detailed information on sightseeing spots, or hotels. Manchester, NH is the largest city in both New England and New Hampshire and is located around the Merrimack River. Manchester was once combined with Massachusetts until the year 1751. The earliest settlers were Pennacook Indians which called instead of calling the area Manchester actually called it, Amoskeag, which in their language means, good fishing place. The area was known for its cotton, and other products such as paper, shoes and of course cigars. There were other products which were produced in the area but weren’t as famous which were rifles, fire engines, and locomotives to name a few. Manchester was also known as the Queen City.

Now that you have the basic history of Manchester, New Hampshire, let’s describe a little bit about the different sightseeing places, and hotels. Manchester, New Hampshire has some great country sides and draws a lot of attention to its area due to this. One of the biggest and most elegant attractions which should be visited is the Robert Frost Farm. Robert Frost is a well known poet who has published many well known poems. If you want you can also walk through the many different trails which line the forest around the Robert Frost Farm. Another famous house in the area is the Zimmerman house. Frank Lloyd Wright was a famous architect in the 1930-1950’s which designed inexpensive houses and there are only a few in the Northeast. He designed everything from the house, furniture to the gardens. The Zimmerman house is the only Frank Lloyd Wright house which is open for public viewing.

For the avid sports fan there are also quite a few professional sports teams from Manchester, New Hampshire. They are the AF2 arena football team, the Manchester Wolves, an Eastern League baseball team and the Double A affiliate, New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Toronto Blue Jays. There is also a soccer team New Hampshire Phantoms and the American Hockey League team called the Manchester Monarchs which is affiliated with the LA Kings.

Now if you are into shopping and anything like that your best bet is to go downtown. There are a lot of local stores and shop in the downtown area. The main center piece of Manchester is the Verizon Wireless Arena. The arena can hold up to ten thousand people for any sporting or concert event. The arena is the home for the Manchester Monarchs. Also located downtown on the Merrimack River is the Merchantsauto.com Stadium baseball park. One of the top ten diners in the world is also located in the downtown area, the Red Arrow. Located on South Willow Street is the Mall of New Hampshire which has over one hundred twenty five stores inside.

There are some other attractions in the area in which you can also visit. There is the art museum which is one of the finest in the country, The Currier Museum of Art. There is also another museum the Manchester Historic Association Millyard Museum which has a permanent exhibit of the story of live people who lived in Manchester and who actually resided there. The exhibit is called, Woven in Time: 11,000 Years at Amoskeag Falls. There are also other items from the early years in Manchester. On the fourth floor of the museum is the SEE Science Center which should also be visited if you are at the museum itself.

There are many reasons why Manchester is famous. The main one is because it once held the largest textile factory in the world. Author of Peyton Place, Grace Metalious was also born in Manchester. The inventor of the Segway Human Transporter, Dean Kamen founded DEKA Research and Development which is located in Manchester. These are only a few reasons why Manchester is so famous and people enjoy traveling there. There is so much more to see and do.

Last but not least let’s talk about the hotel. Manchester, NH and the areas in which surround the city have numerous amounts of hotels that are accommodating. There are main chain hotels, Marriott, Hilton, Radisson, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inns and many more. There are a few bed and breakfasts that are in the area which could be worth looking into also. There is the Ash Street Inn and also the Stephen Clay Homestead B&B. The Ash Street Inn does not allow children or pets so if you have a child this is not the place to stay. The Stephen Clay Homestead does not mention anything about children but it does state they do allow pets as long as they are on a leash. And there is plenty of room to walk the dogs. Making a decision on which hotel, Manchester, NH locations may help you make your decision. Every hotel, Manchester, NH has a lot of different amenities in which to choose from.

It does not matter what hotel, Manchester, NH has a lot to choose from. So when making a decision you can always check out there amenities and also what is located with in a certain distance from them.
