The Truth About Abortions

Added: 08/18/2006

Laws are supposed to protect the rights of human beings. However, laws contradict themselves by allowing the legalization of abortions. It is highly debated on what should be considered morally wrong, but it is not misunderstood on what is scientifically wrong, and abortion is definitely scientifically wrong. The reason this is true is because science has showed us that an unborn fetus is a living, breathing individual.

If laws are supposed to protect the rights of living human beings, where are the laws that prevent the ending of an innocent infant’s life?

About 1.3 million lives are ended before they begin through abortions. Is it not enough that accidents claim the lives of millions of children each day? Why should anyone be allowed to purposely destroy another person?

It is a fact that 99% of fetus’s inside the mother’s womb cannot feel pain. So, what about the 1 percent of them that do?

Aside from the obvious, there are many other concerns that are associated with abortions. There are several mental and physical health risks that are present in each and every case of abortions. Many women have committed suicide from the guilt they’ve felt. Other women live the rest of their lives depressed after they were misinformed about the situation.

It is not unknown for a woman to have an abortion without the knowledge that they are destroying an actual living being. Their have been many reports of outraged women who regret what they’ve done and claim they were uneducated on what the process really meant.

An abortion, by definition, is the removal of a fetus from the body of its host, which usually results in death. Isn’t that the same thing as murder?

The debate on whether or not abortions should be considered murder has been going on for years. Many believe that the fetus is not yet a person, therefore has no rights. Even if that is true, a tree is a living thing with no rights also, so do people have the right to destroy and remove a tree? Why should they have the right to remove a fetus from this world?

Of course, a fetus is not a tree. It is, however, a living thing. Tree’s don’t have any rights because they are not really alive, even though they are living things. But a fetus inside the womb has a real, beating heart, which is made to pump blood through the veins of the fetus to ensure “life”.

It is a controversial subject, indeed. Christians have fought continuously to ban abortions, but they are not the only ones. There are many highly educated people in the political office that have the same views as the Christians. It has nothing to do with religion, but everything to do with right and wrong. Is it morally right for a woman to eliminate a baby growing inside her, for whatever reason it may be? Many people believe it is especially unmoral due to the fact that it is no ones fault but the woman who conceived the baby. Whether or not it was an accidental conception or not, the fact still stands that the woman is the person responsible for the pregnancy.

Science has proven that a fetus gains human life at conception. It has also showed us that the fetus is only half of its mother and entirely itself, a complete individual. One thing science has yet to show us is the reason people do the things they do. It is yet to be discovered why so many things can be illegal, especially the taking of a human life, but not the removal of a fetus, or an abortion, which is scientifically the taking of a human life.

In some states, a minor has the right to an abortion with a court consented approval. This means that a child by law is given the authority to destroy the life that it created. But a child is called a child for a reason. The brain has not developed enough to make accurate and appropriate thoughts. Yet this abomination is still allowed, concluding in the ending of about 30% of teenage pregnancies.

Given the presented information, should abortions really be legalized? Should anyone have the right to eliminate a human life? It is an extremely complicated topic, but the answer should not be hard to find. Abortion costs are generously expensive, but can you really put a price tag on an innocent life?
