Every once in awhile a great movie will come out that not a lot of people have heard about. Sometimes I think these are the best movies, and they are some of my favorites. This is the case for the Secretary movie. This is a dark comedy that has a main story plot set on bad behavior in the work place. The movie is directed by Steven Shainbery, and it stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader. Now I did not use to think that Maggie Gyllenhaal was very hot until I saw the Secretary movie. I do have to say that this is an adult comedy, and it should not be watch by young kids. It does have some nudity in it as well as a lot of adults themes. Also, do keep in mind that this is a dark comedy so the funny parts in the movie are only going to be funny if you have a little bit of an off beat sense of humor. In fact, there are a few parts in this movie that I think could upset a few people, but at the same time have some people dying laughing. Of course, this is not one of those movies that is going to keep you laughing the whole time, but it is one of those movies that you are not going to be able to look away from. To me that is the best type of movie, and I think that is why the Secretary movie is a must own film. The storyline is a little bit different from anything I have ever heard before, but that is another reason why I like it so much. The Secretary movie is based on a short story; so if you think that you may of heard of this plot before then you might have. I think this is a movie that everyone should watch because it is a little bit of a different take on movies. However, it does have some good points to make if you can read between the lines. This movie has more to it than what you are going to find on the surface of it all. That is another reason why I love this movie so much.
The Secretary movie is about a kind of emotionally sensitive girl who is from a not so loving family. The family appears to be loving, but they are very dysfunctional. Because of the problems at home she has been in a psychiatric hospital and has just been released. Soon after being out she start back up with her problems. Seeing that this could soon become a problem again, she looks for work to help keep her mind off her problems. This is where she sees the job opening for a secretary. The job involves typing up papers for a very weird attorney. When you first meet him you can see that he has problems, and you come to find out later that he does. In fact, he has a sexual problem where he likes to humility his workers. Some of the things he does to them is spank them, chain them up, and that is just to name a few. Come to find out, when the girl is being dominated like this it helps her get away from her problems. They end up kind of helping each other out, but then things take a turn for the worst.
The Secretary movie is one of my all time favorite movies, and I hope that you will give it a try. Do keep in mind that it is a dark comedy and is not for everyone. In fact, a few people are going to find the movie very tasteless, and not at all classy. However, if you can look pass the surface, you are going to see that the movie does have a deeper plot to it. Of course, only people who can thing outside the box are going to see this. The Secretary movie is a one of a kind movie that I think that you are going to love if you give it a shot.
