The Can Amera games were nothing like I had ever seen before, and it is sad that they will never have another Can Amera race. The last race was held in 2006, and it had been going on for thirty-five years. In this event, hundreds of athletes would race between Saginaw, Michigan and Cambridge, Ontario. However, fewer and fewer people took part in this race every year. Because of this they have chosen to end this great sporting event after thirty-five years. I must say that I, for one, am sad to see it go. This was an event that they held every other year, and I was a big fan of it. I used to live in Michigan, so I became very attached to this great race. The Can Amera is going to live on in the hearts of the people that have seen it and the people who raced in it. However, it is sad to think that no new people are going to be able to fall in love with this one of a kind race. Because of the Can Amera race ending, they have looked for other things that may be able to fill the shoes of this one of a kind race. However, for the people that have seen this race before, you know that nothing can ever take its place. It is sad to see it come to an end, however, if we all look forward to what new sporting events may be coming out, then we can learn to love that one just as much. However, at this point in time, it seems like something that is not very likely. I feel like there is never going to be any thing that can take its place, and I feel sad that I missed the last race that was held. I moved away from Michigan a few years ago and was not able to make it back up there to see the final race. However, the Can Amera games I did see, I well never forget.

I never did get to be in the Can Amera games, and that is a good thing. To be able to be in this event you are going to have to be a great athlete and in great shape. I like to think I am in pretty good shape, however, at the same time I do not think I would be very good at being in this sporting event. Even so, I did have a lot of family that lived in Saginaw, Michigan, and they got to see the final event. As said before, I am truly sorry I missed it, but then again, at least I got to see a few of them before it got shut down. Maybe some day they will bring the Can Amera back, if people really push for it. However, I do not see that happening because of the lack of participation they where getting in the last years of the Can Amera. I think this sporting event got too hard for people to be able to handle. Also, not everyone even knows about the Can Amera games. In fact, if you come down South, you are not going to find anyone that knows about it, unless they use to live up north as well, and even then they may not know about it. I moved down to North Carolina after leaving Michigan, and when I was talking to people about the Can Amera games close to no one knew what it was.

The fact that not everyone knows what the event was is a shame. It was a great event to watch, and if more people knew what it was, I think you would of seen it on TVs all over the United States. That is because people want to see big sporting events like this. However, because it is now over it is too late for people to ever be able to watch it. Maybe if you are lucky, you will be able to find a video of it and be able to relive the past. If not, then you are just going to have to talk to people about it that have seen it. After all, it is a hard subject to find online.
