If you have never seen the hit movie called Sleepers then shame on you. This is a movie that came out way back in 1996 and was very good because the story was based on a novel by the same name. Now I am one that usually likes the novel more than the movie, however, this movie does do a great job in getting the main plot points across to you. One reason why I like the movie Sleepers so much is the fact that it is based on a true story, however, a lot of people say otherwise. The person who wrote the book says that the story is true and based on real events. Other people say that a lot of evidence has been found that goes against the whole story. Whether the story is true or not does not matter because either way it is still very good. The movie also has a lot of big named actors in it, and I guess that is one reason why it became so well known. The movie starred people like Robert De Niro, Vittorio Gassman, and even Brad Pitt. The story is about these four childhood friends that are played buy Joseph Perrino, Jonathan Tucker, Geoffrey Wigdor, and Brad Renfro. The movie also takes place in New York City during the mid 1960's. If you have never seen this movie then you are going to fall in love with it right away. This is one of those movies that is not like a movie that you have ever seen. I had a lot of fun watching it, however, you have to remember that this is a drama movie so it does have those few moments in the movie that leave you feeling uneasy. Even so, I think that is what adds to the movie and makes it so great. I would love to own this movie, but I have yet to go out and get it. I have, however, seen this movie, and I must say that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I do not say that about a lot of movies, and this movie is one of the films I am not afraid to say that about.

The movie the Sleepers takes place in Hell's Kitchen, New York City. During this time in the film, it happens to be in the 1960's. Most of the movie is about this city, and how it is full of corruption. The city is safe for your children to play in, but all the adults are involved with things that are not right. In the movie you are going to meet a local gangster named King Benny. You are also going to meet a priest that use to also live a life of crime, however, he gave it all up to become a Father. The movie also shows how easy it was for the gangsters to buy off the cops. In fact, they could give money to the cops weekly for them to look the other way why they handled their business. The book goes into very deep detail about everything, and the movie does a good job as well. The Sleepers also has a much deeper meaning to it. As things start changing, like the civil rights movements and the Vietnam war, the people of this city see that their neighborhood is in a dead lock. Things are changing all around them, but the city remains unchanged. This is where people start taking things into their own hands.

Sleepers is a great movie and a must see. Whether or not the movie is based on true things or not, the movie is still good. In fact, Sleepers is a movie that you would have to have in your DVD collection to have a complete collection of great movies (I guess I better go pick it up). The Sleepers is a movie that you are going to watch more than once so going out to buy it is a good idea. I hope you go out and see this movie. I know that you will like it a lot.
