As the grandfather of the kid starts reading the story the kid is taken to the world of his own imagination, imagining every single thing happening in the story just like its happening infront of his eyes.

The story goes like a young Princess named Buttercup played by Robin Wright and a young swashbuckler who are lovers since they are juvenile are madly in love and is impossible for them to be separated. The Princess who is the title heroine of the movie is raised in a farm in a fictional country of Florin. The Princess there makes Westley, the farm boy played by Cary Elwes do her chores and to every command of hers the only answer she heard was “as you wish”. But later she truly realized what these words really mean and not just that she returns his love with the same emotions.

To marry the Princess and to spend their lives together the farm boy leaves the place to seek his future promising Buttercup that he will surely return. But later Buttercup hears that the ship of his true love has been hijacked by Dread Pirate Roberts who does not take any prisoners. After five years of not hearing from Westley, Buttercup becomes unwillingly engaged to Prince Humperdinck played by Chris Sarandon, heir to the throne of Florin. Every story has a villain and the villain of The Princess Bride is the evil prince who wants to get married to the beautiful Princess knowing she is not willing to. Before the wedding, Buttercup is kidnapped by a trio of criminals. The criminals have to come across a man in a black mask who fights to prison Buttercup and he does succeed. While she is a prisoner in the custody of the Man in Black further questions reveal that he is actually the Dread Pirate Roberts. Enraged she tries to kill the Man in Black yelling “You can die too for all I care!" and that is when she hear those same words by the Man in Black “As you wish”. That is when she realizes that Man in Black is really his lost love she thought died five years ago.

Later it is found out that the Dread Pirate Roberts did attack Westley’s ship but imprisoned Westley and later he signed up as his apprentice where he learned how to fight, sail and fence. Eventually over time Robert secretly passed his name, captaincy, and ship to Westley. To win the Princess completely Westley decides to attack the castle on the day of the wedding and to win her once and for all. Everything works according to the plan and Westley takes over the castle where he gets a chance to kill the evil Prince but he leaves him alive to live as a coward he already is. And like all other fairytales The Princess Bride, Buttercup and Westley lives happily ever after.
