If you love a good action movie, then you are going to fall in love with one of the greatest action history movies of all time. Mel Gibson is one of my favorite actors of all time, and the movie The Patriot will show you why. He is a man that can play just about any role you throw at him and he does it perfectly. Another reason why I loved this movie, is because I love to learn about history. Of course, when I watch a movie I want to be entertained as well. Most movies that are historical movies usually do one or the other, but The Patriot does both. It gives you a great insight to the American revolution and what it was like during that time. Another great thing about The Patriot is the time frame. This movie does not just cover some of the war, or the end of the war. No this movie covers the whole thing, from the very start to the very end. The movie itself is moving, inspiring, and just all around one of the best films I have ever seen. This is one of the many movies that I have in my own personal DVD collections, and I watch it all the time. This is a movie you have to see.

Mel Gibson plays the role of a father who does not want to go into war against Britain, who at the start of this movie still has control over the founding states of America. However, not as many people feel the way he does (including his sons) and America breaks away from Britain. Of course, Britain is not going to just sit by and let that happen, so they go over to set order back to their land. As the war reaches Mel Gibson's home town he sees that he will have to fight or let his family die at the hands of the Red Coats, so he does what any father would do, he fights. The Patriot for the most part follows Mel Gibson's character throughout the whole movie. There are a few times you break away from him, but not for very long, which is fine. This movie is one of those that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Even though you know what happens, this movie is able to give you the information in a way that you are not suspecting. However, this movie does have a Braveheart feel to it. If you are a fan of Mel Gibson, then you know what I mean. This is another movie where he plays a great leader and rides to the front of the lines to give support to his men. Some people had a few negative things to say about that, but that is quickly dismissed when watching this film.

If you have not seen The Patriot I do not know what you are waiting for. This is a movie that you should have been able to see in the movie theater, but if you have not already then you missed your chance. The good news is that is on DVD, and you can now own this amazing movie to watch over and over. Believe me, this is not a movie that you will get tried of watching. When you are watching this movie you will feel like you are right in the war, fighting for our nations freedom all over again. If you love history you are going to love this movie. Of course, if you are a fan of action movies, you are going to love it as well. This is one of those movies that you can not go wrong with, and that is what makes it so great. Go out and rent The Patriot tonight, you will not be sorry you did.
