Did you know there are three kinds of national variations of adoption, International, Domestic and Intra-Family. There are also four different types as well, the adoption that is closed, the adoption that is open, the adoption that is from foster care and the adoption that is semi-open. Do your research to find out which one of these would best suit you and be the best in regards of the child you are planning to adopt and make a member of your family.
The national variations of adoption Intra/Family means that not every adoption takes place outside from the families. There are many adoptions done legally within the families today. This can be contributed to by the fact that the parent or parents cannot provide care, support and necessities to the child any longer or of the parents of birth’s death and the child is left without guardianship. Someone steps up from within the family and legally adopts the child or children and becomes their adoptive parent. Adoption of this type is also known to be done by a step/parent as well when the other parent is no longer in the child’s life.
The national variations of adoption internationally means that you adopt a child that was not born within your country but from another country. The countries all have different procedures, rules and policies regarding these adoptions and the processes that follow along with them. There are children available from many age ranges for adoption consideration.
The national variations on adoptions that are open means that the child who is adopted has complete access to see their records that are original and all files that are held on them and their parents of birth. This can also mean at times the adoptive couple has to meet many times with the parents of birth, almost like an interviewing process. The parents of birth can then decide where their child will be placed for their adoption. The parents of birth will sometimes make stipulations that the parents who are adopting their child keep in touch with them on a regular basis, give them updates on the child’s progress, talk to the child over the phone, have pictures sent to them and even be able to see them once in awhile. This type of adoption is not for everyone.
The national variation on adoption that is closed means there is no information about either the parents of birth or adoption given out before the proceedings or afterwards, the files and the records remained closed to the child as well.
The national variation on adoption from homes of foster care is a different story. These children where put in these homes because they were being subjected to abuse, neglect, malnourishment, abandonment etc. A family who is willing to open their homes and hearts to them takes them in and takes care of them just like they were their own child. At times these foster families love the child so much they apply to legally adopt them and make them a permanent part of their family home.
Always check into the available data and information before choosing an adoption type, look for the positive as well as the negative things each adoption type could hold. Always think what is in the best interest of the children as well, that is the most important thing. They need a strong, loving, compassionate and stable home environment ion which they will be allowed to flourish and see their dreams through.
