If you are looking for great National Parks in the British Columbia area of Canada, then you need to head on over to Kootenay National Park. Kootenay National Park is the perfect place to have a great vacation. This is not your typical vacation either, this is one that you will never for get as long as you live. Kootenay is on of the four mountain parks in the Canadian Rockies. The other three are Yoho National Park, Banff National park, and Jasper National Park. If you look on a map, Jasper National Park is the only one of these parks that do not share a boundary with Kootenay. The up keep of this National park is made possible by the British Columbia and Canadian federal government. This is a great place to spend some time away from the city, which is something I feel we all need. It is hard to find a vacation spot that is not full of tourist. Do not get me wrong, Kootenay National Park does have a fair number of tourist that come through it, but not nearly as many as some of the other National Parks in the world. The great news is that the Kootenay is open all year long. This is cool because it is in Canada and we all know that it gets very cool up there during the winter. However, if you are strong enough to bear the cold, then you should go up there during the winter. I am sure that it is beautiful.

There is no reason why you should not come up and see Kootenay. This is a great place that is open all year long. So it will always be open to fit your scheduled. It has been running this way ever since 1920 and it keeps running that way to this day. Most tourist do not come all year long. You will see most of the tourist from June to September. This is because most campgrounds around that area are only open from May to September. However, there are a select few that do stay open all year round to take care of those people that do want to see this great place during the winter. If you wanted to know where the name of this park comes from, all you have to do is look at the river that runs through it. This is called Kootenay River, which just happens to be the name of the park. This is not the only grand river that flows through this huge national park. The Vermillion River is also located completely inside Kootenay. The Kootenay river starts outside of the park, but the Vermillion River flows only in Kootenay. If you look on a map you will see that the Kootenay river joins up with the Columbia River later down the stream.

If you have never been to Kootenay, then you should think about going there on your next vacation. This is a great place to take your family and spend some time together. This is something that I think all families need to do. Too many of us do not get to spend time with our families anymore. This could be because of work or school. However, this is a park that is open all year long, so there is no reason why you can not find a time when your whole family can go. You are going to learn and see so much here that is is going to blow you away. This is not your typical national park which I think is a good thing. This way if you have ever been to a national park, it will not be like going to this one. This is where you want to be.
