It was during the year of 1979 when the government decided to make the lower spot of the garrisons into a fully developed commercial place while the remaining higher spot was turned into a park. The park’s development project was a joint between the former Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club and Urban Council.

The play ground has a very comfortable soft floor and a closed circuit television system, which are designed for the safeness of the children and kids. However, the Olympic Square is designed for the adults because of its offered various kinds of entertainment scenes such as promotional events, concerts, plays, and sports.

The natural landscapes and enjoyable features of the Hong Kong Park catch the fulfilling eyes of the crowd. The park offers a relaxing environment to its visitors. Edward Youde Aviary Center is the main feature of the park and considered as the largest aviary in Hong Kong. However, the Vantage point is also a great place to visit in the park because of its bird exhibitions entertainment. Forsgate Conservatory is an enjoyable greenhouse where orchid exhibitions and other kinds of plant exhibitions are being held as well. There are also the modern gardens of Taichi and Garden Plaza where various kinds of flowers and plants can be seen. Visitors can also check on the Flagstaff House of Tea Ware, which is a part section of the Hong Kong Museum of Arts and the Hong Kong Visual Arts Center. The park also has some refreshment areas where visitors can be able to take a rest and can even eat or drink. These refreshment areas include small eateries, convenience restaurants and one-stop food sections where any one can be able to have something to bite or drink. The park is open daily starting from six in the morning until eleven in the evening.

Hong Kong Park is not just any ordinary green park where you can make enjoyment just by roaming and strolling around the trees and flowers.
