The Little Mermaid Is A Sparkling Disney Movie

"The Little Mermaid" released in the early days of DVD was long waited for it to come on it. The DVD version later on was released with two CD's that sold millions of copies. The movie is presented by Walt Disney Picture about a mermaid and her family who lives in the sea. The movie was a great hit making every kid its fan. The movie is written, directed and produced by John Musker who had two wins and two nominations in his career.
John Musker is famous for directing animated movies. His other fine work of arts other than “The Little Mermaid” include “Hercules” who made John won Best Director and Best Producer award, “The Great Mouse Detective” which won an award for Best Motion Picture, “Aladdin”, “The Princess and the Frog” and “Treasure Planet”. John Musker as born in Chicago and went to college with John Lasseter, Brad Bird and Tim Burton.


The movie The Little Mermaid was released on 17th November, 1989. It may be an old movie by now but still it might still have huge fans all around the world. It won two Oscars and nine other nominations. The animation of the movie and colors used in it are lively and energizing making kids as well as adults mesmerized. It’s an eighty-three minute of fun, romance, suspense and adventure.


The movie “The Little Mermaid” is basically about a little mermaid princess whose father that is somewhat the defender of the ocean and the creatures living down there. His father is considered to be a brilliant, brave man whom everyone turns to in problems. The twist in the movie starts when the mermaid Princess Ariel (voiced by novice Jodi Benson) rescues a young handsome Prince Sebastian (voiced by Samuel E. Wright). She magically falls in love with him at first sight. Without telling her father she makes a pact with the sea witch named Ursula to turn her into a girl to make the Prince fall in love with her in return of her beautiful voice. The witch further adds the rule that if she is unable to do that she will turn back to a mermaid forever and the kingdom of his father would be given to Ursula.


The witch makes sure she does not get to make the Prince fall in love with her by hypnotizing the Prince in her spell and appearing as a young beautiful girl to him. The Prince ends up marrying Ursula, the sea witch who is fooling the Prince by calling herself Vanessa and wins the kingdom of the ocean from Ariel’s father. With the help of various sea and air animals, Scuttles, the seagull manages to break the nautilus shell around Ursula's neck, bringing back Ariel's voice, and breaking Ursula's spell over Eric. Realizing the love for Ariel, Eric the Prince rushes to kiss Ariel but it’s too late, the sun has set and she transforms back into a mermaid. Ursula kidnaps Ariel and runs away and Eric goes after her to save Ariel’s life. They are trapped in the water during a storm where Ursula shows how horrifying her appearance really is and try to kill Eric but somehow he manages to go pass her abdomen that makes Ursula blow into bits. The ocean and Ariel is saved, Triton, moved by his daughter's love and sacrifice, turns Ariel into a human using his trident. In the last scene Ariel and Eric both are shown kissing on their wedding having human and merpeople guests in the ceremony and they live happily ever after.


“The Little Mermaid” brought back the fantasy about mermaids and if they are really real. The movie was made so that kids practically started to believe on mermaids the movie was cute, charming, romantic and full of adventure meaning there something for everyone. The movie went houseful while it was on the cinema making more and more fans every day.
