The Lion King is the 32nd animated film by Disney and was also the highest grossing animated feature film in the United States of America. The Lion King is one of the most well known Disney films of all time. This was a musical film that had some of the greatest Disney songs of all time on it. Some of the songs where composed by Elton John who is a big time singer in America. Also, it had lyrics that were written by Tim Rice, who has always been a great music writer. Disney knew that The Loin King was a big time film because they went on to make two other movies that were related to this film. One of them was the sequel known as The Lion King II: Simba's Pride. Later on they would go back to make a prequel to The Loin King called The Lion King 1 ½. So what was this great film about anyway, you ask. Well it was about a young lion and his family. His father was the king of the land and his son was in line to be king after him. However, his evil uncle wants to be king and has the young lions father killed. Then he tricks the young cub into running away, thus he became king. However, the young cub meets a lot of great animals while he is away from home, and soon he decides to go back and take over his kingdom. This is a very happy story, but like most Disney movies you will cry at one point in the film. Of course, you know what they say, if a movie does not make you cry at least once, then it is no good.

The Lion King made a lot of money for Disney, not only as a movie but as a soundtrack as well. In fact, The Lion King soundtrack had the famous song, Circle of Life sung by Elton John on it. The Lion King did, however, make a lot of money in the box office. In fact, it became the second highest grossing film of the year for 1994. The only film to beat how much it made was Forrest Gump which is one of the best movies of all time. The total gross of how much The Lion King made over the course of its lifetime was 329 million dollars. Now that is a lot of money to be made by a cartoon film. However, when you watch this great movie you are going to forget that you are watching a cartoon. This is because the movie is very well put together, and everyone in your family is going to love watching it. This movie is one that you are going to want to run out to the store and buy right away. However, it may not be as easy to go out and get as you may think. This is because Disney has so many movies that they have made, that they cannot sell them all at the same time. Thus, only every once in a while will The Lion King be on sale to buy at the store. If this is a movie that you want, you have to go online and look for it.
