The Good The Bad And The Ugly is a movie that was made back in 1966, and is an Italian epic spaghetti western. For those of you who do not know what a spaghetti western is, it is a term that was given as a nickname. Most of the spaghetti westerns came out in the 1960's, and were usually low budget and full of violence. However, in the time that The Good The Bad And The Ugly came out, the spaghetti westerns were not a group of movies that people liked very much. The Good The Bad And The Ugly came out on December 29th of 1967, and it grossed about 6 million dollars. The film first opened, however, in Italy a year earlier. However, when the movie came out it was criticized for its depiction of violence. However, the director just said that the west was made by violent men, and that was what he tried to recapture. Because of this, Quentin Tarantino (another great film maker) calls The Good The Bad And The Ugly the best directed film of all time. However, that did not change the mixed reviews the movie received when it first came out. This is mostly because spaghetti westerns were looked down upon during this point in time. Of course, now the movie is talked about in high regards, and is considered a classic by many critics today. The Good The Bad And The Ugly remains, and maybe always will remain, one of the greatest westerns of all time.

The story behind The Good The Bad And The Ugly is one that keeps the story moving, but is not the main reason why people love this movie. The story is about three gunslingers who are competing to find a fortune of buried Confederate gold. During the movie you will see a lot of gunfights, hangings, and even Civil War battles. Of course, there are a few prison camps thrown in there, just for good measure. So if the story is not what made The Good The Bad And The Ugly a great film, then what is? Well, it would have to be because of the great actors it had in the movie. The title roles in the movie were given to Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach, and Lee Van Cleef. Clint Eastwood has gone down in American movie history as playing some of the best roles of all time. He is very well known for his role in the movie Dirty Harry. The Good The Bad And The Ugly, however, is the third movie in a trilogy, known as the Dollars trilogy. The other two movies were called A Fistful of Dollars (1964), and For a Few Dollars More (1965). If you like western movies, then this is a movie you cannot miss.

Everyone has a favorite movie of all time, and even more people have a favorite film out of a group of movies. Like lots of people do not have one movie that is their all time favorite, but if you ask what their favorite comedy is of all time, then they can tell you. Well, if you ask people what their favorite western is of all time, most people are going to say The Good The Bad And The Ugly. This film is a masterpiece, and should be seen by everyone at least once. Of course, some versions of this movie can run a long time (almost three hours), but it is well worth it. This is one of the best movies ever made hands down, if you are into western movies. However, even if you do not like western movies very much, I am sure you are still going to find something to like about this movie. I think that is because The Good The Bad and The Ugly has a little bit of something to offer to everyone.
