Cruises and other warm weather trips are taken all year round. Some of these trips are anniversary gifts, “I’m sorry” gifts and others. Why not Christmas trips? Families have so little time to spend together as the endless pursuit of “happiness” continues, summer breaks from school sessions is sometimes the only time most families have to spend vacations together. Besides the weather being nicer, if you are not a skier or snowmobiler, what else is there to do?
Chirstmas trips can take on many different forms. Hawaii’s Turtle Bay offers snorkeling, scuba diving and as much sun and sand and surf as one can take in in a day! Maybe water isn’t your thing. A wonderful couple once told of combined Christmas trips they took where one golfed and the other spent the entire time in a spa! Maybe you’ve always dreamed of Reno or Las Vegas! Although the winter rarely dampens their spirits, any time of year is the right time of year to win a million! Caesar’s palace and the massive hotels that are small cities within a building are amazing places to go and visit.
For those with children, Christmas trips to Disney Land or Disney World are in order. During the summer months, the places are so busy. Slow things down a little and go at off season, during Christmas. This will also be a less expensive time of year to take the little ones to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy and Pluto and the whole gang! If the kids are older, but not quite old enough for Vegas, consider Christmas trips to the Smokey Mountains or some other historically significant park like Yellow Stone National for them to take in the sights and enjoy being out in the open!
There is no limit to the amount of imagination it takes to put together a Christmas trip! Knowing that you can go at any time during the year sure does open up some more attractive, serious options. Making sure that everyone in the family gets to do a little of what they want to do is a divine way to make sure at Christmas time; they all remember what a great family trip they had. They may even be planning the next year’s trip and request special scuba gear be put under the Christmas tree with their name on it!
Taking pictures and scrapbooking the family vacation makes a wonderful Christmas gift for anyone; whether they went or not! Funny shots of roller coaster faces, wet and wild slides down a water park slide; make them feel as if they were part of the action! Saving these memories of a wonderful Christmas family vacation might even inspire more families to take their Christmas money and begin spending time as a family…after all; charity begins at home-right?
