The story is about two blood brothers in which one of them namely Jake has just released from prison and after when Jake and his blood brother Elwood goes to their home town and finds out the Roman Catholic orphanage, where they grew up is about to shut down unless $5,000 in property taxes is paid.
John David Landis, the director of The Blues Brother was born on August 3rd, 1950 is an American movie actor, producer, director and writer. John is mostly known in his career for comedy films but he has experimented with directing horror movies as well. He started his career in Hollywood just when he was a teenager while working as a mail boy at 20th Century Fox. Later he starred in Schlock! (1976) which was also directed and written by him, also directed The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977) and National Lampoon's Animal House (1978). In 1980, Landis directed The Blues Brothers which he co-wrote with Dan Aykroyd and then in 1981 An American Werewolf in London, which he also wrote. Landis also directed the classic Michael Jackson music videos "Black or White" and "Thriller". Some of the work of John Landis are Coming to America (1988), Oscar (1991), Beverly Hills Cop III (1994), Innocent Blood (1992) and an episode of TV Series Psych episode Scary Sherry (2007).

The story of The Blues Brothers (1980) is about two blood brothers played by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as Jake and Elwood. Jake has just been released from the prison and is given in to the custody of Elwood, his brother. Jake after insisting makes Elwood to visit the old home they were raised when they were kids. As they had no parents they lived in a Roman Catholic Orphanage. They learn that the Orphanage which is also a church is being sold to the education society and the only way to keep the church running and being sold out is to pay $5,000 as property tax within eleven days only.

The Blues Brothers decide to put their band together, arrange a huge concert to raise the money to save the Church. The more they are willing to do so the more they face hurdles and problems.
