The Atlanta Single Scene

Added: 10/27/2005

The South is home to many large and ever-expanding cities, including Atlanta, Georgia. And in those cities can be found numerous singles, each looking for their perfect match. The Atlanta single crowd is no exception to this rule, but some are finding that living in the big city can be both a help and a hindrance to their search. Though the options may be increasing, the safety and security may be decreasing at the same time.

Granted, a big city such as Atlanta has a few distinct advantages when looking for love, a larger population, more opportunities and locations to explore, and more outlets for the Atlanta single to consult when looking when looking for 'the one'.  As with any big city, the media options are extensive, and there is nightlife to be found for every preference out there.

The Atlanta single man or woman can consult various websites, directed specifically to Atlanta women and men, giving them access to biographies, pictures, and even live chat with another Atlanta single.  Newspapers offer personals ads to anyone interested, and magazines can keep the Atlanta single up to date with the local events and happenings in and around the Atlanta metro area.  Certain churches and organizations regularly hold single socials or dances, giving attending singles a common thread before they even meet.

The club scene is also alive and well in Atlanta, with multiple venues and scheduled events to be found every week.  An Atlanta single can combine the relaxation of enjoying a cocktail, the companionship of hanging out with friends or coworkers, and the excitement of potentially meeting new people, all within a few hours time.  Atlanta women, in particular, enjoy the club scene as it gives them a chance to show off new hairstyles and fashions.  The club scene can also be great for just letting it loose and dancing the night away after those stressful weeks at the office.

Bars are another good outlet for the Atlanta single, similar to the various clubs; bars usually offer a bit more low-key opportunity to strike up a conversation with someone new.  Softer lighting and a quieter atmosphere can give the Atlanta single a chance to get to know someone new, without having to worry if their dancing ability is up to par with the club scene.  A bar also provides the attendee with a chance to kick back and relax, making even the loneliest night seem something of a success.

While the big city does offer many more locations for the Atlanta single to explore on their quest to meet their perfect match, it is important to realize that there is still a downside to this large metropolitan area.  Like all big cities, Atlanta does have a significant crime rate that should never be ignored.  The Atlanta single should be wary of simply going home with a stranger they've just met, and should avoid traveling alone (whether it's to or from a nightspot) at all times.  If driving, make sure to designate a driver at the beginning of the night that will not be drinking, and thus will help to make sure everyone gets home safe and sound.  If driving yourself, make sure to park your vehicle in a well-lit area that can be easily accessed at the end of the night.  A little bit of caution up front can prevent a possible tragedy later on.

Despite these valid concerns, there is always hope for the Atlanta single.  Awareness and persistence are key factors whenever meeting someone new, and following both can help us all eventually find our match.
