The Advantages Of Vegetarian Cooking

To be vegan or not to be vegan that is the question of the day. The answer is not a simple straight forward answer. No, the question is whether the choice to have a vegetarian lifestyle has advantages over traditional eating habits. This question is really the heart of the vegetarian cooking lifestyle. To be considered vegetarians is to be without meat, but there is a greater difference and even more distinct definitions to vegetarian cooking. This way of life is healthy, and can be very beneficial.
To be a true vegan is to totally free of animal meat, animal byproducts and animal fat. The mystery of vegetarian cooking lies within the recipes themselves. Do they contain any of these animal byproducts or animal fat? Most vegetarians believe that removing all animal meat, byproducts or animal fat will make a person healthier when eating. Most nutritionists believe that eating more fruits, leafy greens, whole grains, legumes, and beans would make our human bodies become healthier. Most people agree that they don’t eat enough of these vegetarian foods. Could it be truthful that vegetarians have the inside tract to being healthy because of their vegetarian cooking?

There isn’t a simple answer to that question either. We don’t know enough about the effects of being pure vegan. What we do know is that we are not eating enough fiber. In vegetarian cooking fiber is the main ingredient. Humans must revisit what it means to be healthy. We, especially in the United States are eating meat, dairy and egg products which are high in saturated fat and cholesterol. This saturated fat causes heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, strokes and a few other health problems. So, the argument for being healthier by vegetarian cooking is very strong.

Another aspect to vegetarian cooking is energy. It takes an awful lot of energy to digest saturated fat and animal protein. Many vegetarians believe that their metabolism speeds up by not eating these products, and by eating fiber and complex carbohydrates. Since their metabolism is working better and faster they have more energy to do other things. With this new found energy they are a happier person. A happier person is a healthier person.

Many studies have been done on cancer causing agents. There is a unanimous contention among all the scientific research institutions. That decision is that as much cancer is caused by diets as is caused by smoking. The World Cancer Research Fund, The American Cancer Society and the Royal Cancer Society in Britain all agree that in preventing cancer one needs to feat plant-based foods. A low-fat plant based diet would lower the cancer rate around 60 percent. So, this vegetarian cooking lifestyle has some backing from some great Doctors and research scientists.

As stated earlier to be truly vegan is to be without any meat or animal fat or animal byproducts. That includes cow’s milk. We humans have been drinking cow milk for centuries, but the fact is that most of us are allergic to cow milk. We drink it for the vitamin C and vitamin D. Our mothers’ milk is natural; it’s not natural to drink cow’s milk. There is one more reason not to drink cow’s milk, and it’s because our cows are getting growth hormones and other antibiotics. This in turn makes our own immune system not work properly, and other diseases will attack. There are other natural places to obtain these two very important vitamins, and many are found in the truly leafy greens such as spinach, and broccoli. Vegetarian cooking is a way to eliminate these disease causing agents.

Vegetarian cooking is a smart way to eat healthy. One thing is certain, we humans need more plant-based food in our diet. Becoming a vegetarian is one example of a way to be healthier. Vegetarians have a lifestyle advantage over the rest of us who aren’t. Don’t be surprised if you decide to become vegan that you’ll become a happier person full of energy.
