Later, Luke Wilson went to Occidental College. While there, he discovered that he was far more interested in sports than the academic offerings. He continued to do very well on the track team. Then fate came into play and Luke Wilson decided that he wanted to pursue drama instead of sports.
Luckily having a brother who was already in show business, Luke Wilson’s acting career began in 1994 with the lead role in a short file that was called Bottle Rocket. This short film was co-written by his brother Owen and directed by Wes Anderson. Later, the movie was turned into a full length feature in 1996.
Deciding to move to Hollywood was inevitable and Luke Wilson did just that in 1997. His two brothers moved to Hollywood, as well. Once in Hollywood, Luke Wilson’s first role there was with Calista Flockhart in Telling Lies in America. This was in the year 1997 and in that same year, he had a short cameo appearance in Scream 2. He seemed to be popular when playing romantic characters; because of that, he starred in Best Men and Home Fries. Both of those movies were opposite Drew Barrymore and made for excellent romantic movies. For a while, Luke Wilson and Drew Barrymore were dating; however they broke up in the year 1998. Many other movies followed, some co-written by his brother Owen. In addition to the big screen, Luke Wilson also made some appearances on television. He is most remembered for his role of Kelso’s older brother on the bit hit That 70’s Show; he played that character on and off for three years, from the years 2002 to 2005. Many people refer to Luke Wilson and the team of other actors that he works with as the Frat Pack. This is because the same actors try to work together in many movies. The actors together in the Frat Pack with Luck Wilson are Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Steve Carell and Luke’s brother Owen.
Luke Wilson has starred in many movies. The list includes: Bottle Rocket, Bongwater, Telling Lies in America, Best Men, Scream 2, Dog Park, Home Fries, Rushmore, Kill the Man, Blue Streak, My Dog Skip, Committed, Preston Tylk, Charlie’s Angels, Legally Blond, Soul Survivors, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Third Wheel, Masked and Anonymous, Old School, Alex and Emma, Charlie’s Angels 2, Legally Blond 2, Around the World in 80 Days, Anchorman, The Wendell Baker Story, The Family Stone, Jackass 2, Mini’s First Time, Hoot, My Super Ex Girlfriend, Idiocracy, You Kill Me, Blades of Glory, Vacancy, 3:10 to Yuma, Terra and Blond Ambition.
