The plot to The Shining is a great one, because it was based off a great novel. A down and out writer (Jack Torrance) is given a second chance to get some writing done when he is offer the job of being a hotel caretaker for the winter. Jack takes the job and brings his family (Wend and Danny Torrance) with him. Before getting the job, they warned him that it gets very lonely up in the hotel during the winter, and because it is on a mountain no one would be able to get up to them after the snow came. As you can guess this movie becomes a psychological thriller about a family being cut off from everyone. As super natural things start to happen in the hotel, the dad (played by Jack Nicholson) begins to go crazy. The ghost in the hotel tells him to kill his family. The Shining is a deep, dark, and twisted movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time. Jack Nicholson does an amazing job showing how his character becomes more and more troubled as the movie goes on. The Shining soon because a movie about a family turn against itself in the fight for survival. This is a movie that you are not going to be able to get enough of, and is a movie that you are going to love. However, the movie is rated R and should not be view by younger kids. This movie is full of blood, violence, psychological horror, and even nudity.
If you have not seen The Shining yet, then you should go out and buy it. Yes, I said buy it, not rent it. This is a movie that you are going to want to put in your DVD collection as soon as you watch it the first time. If you have already seen it, there is a good chance you already have it in your collection. If you do not then shame on you, and you better go out right now and pick it up.
