What can you say about two guys who refused to make a movie until the studio promised it could be rated R instead of the more audience friendly PG-13? What can you say about two guys who give Saddam Hussein a Canadian accent and then get him involved in a homosexual relationship with Satan? All you can really say is that sounds just like something Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of the animated series South Park, would do. If that was your guess then you would be right. Stone and Parker have systematically alienated every actor in Hollywood to the point where almost no one wants to work with them. These are the same guys that had George Clooney do the voice of a dog and all Clooney was allowed to do was make actual dog sounds with no talking. Then, when Jerry Seinfeld offered to do an episode of their show, Parker and Stone offered Seinfeld the chance to play a random turkey in one of their Thanksgiving episodes that featured dozens of turkeys. Obviously the Hollywood star treatment does not apply in South Park and when you are offered the services of comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld, who has one of the most unique voices in entertainment, and you want to use him as at the gobble of a random turkey well then these guys just are not right. Stone and Parker have been called a lot of things in their careers but full of respect is not one of those things. They do things their way and if you do not like it then that doesn’t bother them at all. They have said repeatedly that they hate actors and they hate working with actors. Boy did these guys get in the wrong business. Or did they?
In 1999 Stone and Parker released the only full length South Park movie called South Park – Bigger, Longer, & Uncut and right from the get go they started lobbing bombs at the establishment. Parker and Stone claim that they wanted to call the movie South Park – All Hell Breaks Loose but they claim the MPAA, the organization that monitors and rates movies, told them they had to remove the word “hell” from their title or they could not release the movie. The head of the MPAA claims this never happened and considering that the Hellraiser movie series has been pretty popular it is safe to say that Stone and Parker are just causing trouble again. But that was only the beginning as South Park – Bigger, Longer, & Uncut went on to be the most profanity laced animated movie ever made and it also borders on being one of the most violent animated movies ever made as well. Only Parker and Stone would care so little about doing so much.
Through it all the South Park movie went on to become a huge financial success and believe it or not our boys Matt and Trey went and got themselves nominated for an Oscar for their song “Blame Canada” that appears in the South Park movie. One of their only regrets is that the movie was banned in Iraq so Saddam Hussein never got to see it. Why does that matter at all? Because Saddam is a main character in the movie as he is dead, in hell, causing war on the surface, and involved in a homosexual relationship with Satan. It isn’t every movie that can offend two countries at the same time and still get nominated for an Oscar.
