Sin City - The Perfect Crime Picture

Sin City is a neo-noir anthology film made in the year 2005 and was written, produced and directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez. The film is based on the graphic novel series of Frank Miller, under the same name. It is to be noted that the said film happens to be the first black and white movie made in the 21st century, although there is indeed the reference of splashes of color.
It is to be noted, that the Sin City is primarily based on three of Miller's works. While The Hard Goodbye concentrates on a hunking man who embarks on a brutal rampage in search of his one-time lover's killer, there is The Big Fat Kill which deals centrally with a street war held between a group of violent prostitutes and a series of mercenaries. While on the other hand, That Yellow Bastard focuses on an aging police officer who becomes able to protect a young woman from the hands of a psychotic child molester. The film Sin City also stars a galaxy of proficient and commendable film personalilities who are known throughout the world for their individual excellences. They include Jessica Alba, Devon Aoki, Alexis Bledel, Michael Clarke Duncan, Rosario Dawson, Benicio del Toro, Josh Hartnett, Jaime King, Brittany Murphy, Clive Owen, Mickey Rourke. Among others also included Nick Stahl, Bruce Willis, Elijah Wood and Rutger Hauer. Sin City was opened to wide critical and commercial success from the very beginning through the gathering of particular recognition for the film's unique coloring process. It is to be noted that the experiment of the coloring process in the entire film through the technique of black and white has been unparalleled, even in the 21 st century, but has also managed to retain the coloring of selective objects. The Sin City was screened at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival in-competition and triumphed through winning the Technical Grand Prize for the film's "visual shaping."

The film Sin City sets about on a balcony overlooking the highlights of Basin City, a grimy, violent and corrupted place. The Customer (Shelton) is greeted by The Salesman (Hartnett), who offers her a cigarette before mysteriously killing her. From there the film moves to the the docks of Sin City, where it is seen that the aging police officer John Hartigan is keeping no stone unturned to prevent the heinous child molester Roark Junior from raping the eleven year old minor child Nancy Cakllahan. At the initial stage his closest ally Bob tries in all measures to stop him, but finding no other way out to prevent Hartigan punches him in the face, knocking him out cold. This is followed by the face off of Hartigan with the dreaded local criminals Shlubb and Klump, whereupon he knocks them both out. When he finds Junior he succeeds in shooting off his ear, arm and shoots him in the groin before being shot 3 times in the back by Bob. Bob tells Hartigan to stay down, but Hartigan tries to pull his reserve gun and is shot again by Bob another 5 times before he leaves Hartigan there with Nancy. The film moving through the respective three parts reaches the climax where Hartigan explains his secret plans required to reveal the corruption of Senator Roark to the administration and finally bring down the corruption in Sin City. But after the depart of Nancy, Hartigan revealing that this would be an impossible task commits suicide in order to ensure Nancy's safety. In the epilogue, an injured Becky is seen departing from a hospital. While riding in the elevator, she is discovered by the Salesman, who offers her a cigarette.

The film opened on 11th April, 2005 to largely positive reviews and received a 77% "Certified Fresh" rating at Rotten Tomatoes. Moreover, the famous critic Chauncey Mabe of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel wrote, "Really, there will be no reason for anyone to make a comic-book film ever again. Miller and Rodriguez have pushed the form as far as it can possibly go."
