Celebrity appearance is a stereotype held by society. Actresses and models feel the pressure to go to extreme measures for the perfect body. This requires them to starve themselves and reconstruct areas of their body that aren't deemed perfect. All of this can lead to eating disorders and drug habits, which are detrimental to their health and can be deadly.

Society has taught people to judge others based on their body, hair and skin appearance, and often times gives individuals with outstanding beauty preferential treatment. You should beef up your physique by working out and eating right in order to not only benefit from the treatment by others but to improve your health and increase your odds in the dating pool.

Society has created a stereotype that demands women have the appearance of a stick thin model or actress to be considered attractive. No matter if women are deemed a healthy weight by standards set by medical institutions, women still feel the need to exercise and diet in order to have the perfect body. This can have serious consequences, especially in young girls as it leads to low self-esteem and eating disorders.

Gender stereotyping is becoming less and less common in today's world. We are no longer in the times when a woman would be considered a house cleaner only. We are in the times when a woman can be the boss of an international successful company. There are times when the gender stereotyping does come out but these moments of stupidity from others is becoming more and more rare.

Physical appearance is considered one of the most important criteria by which to measure a person's worth. While always a consideration no matter what the situation, when involved in the dating game the entire physical package is judged. It's not just the outer decorative trappings of clothing, jewelry, scent and make-up up for review but the body's physique. And stereotyping rules the day when one person eyeballs another.

Fashion is considered to be a form of dress or conduct. It may be the appearance form that is trendy at the present time or it may be used to denote a mode of personal appearance associated with a certain time frame. Hippies exemplified a different fashion or personal appearance than the flappers of the Roaring Twenties. To keep one's personal appearance current and oneself desirable, one needs to be aware of current fashion trends and adhere to them.

Society operates under the perception that personal appearance denotes sexual preference. This perceived and admittedly sometimes overemphasized stereotypical means of concluding, at a glance, who one would prefer to enjoy sexual relations with, is linked to parental proclivities and further cemented by societal criteria as laid forth by peers, the media and advertising.

Stereotyping can lead to adherence to guidelines that might otherwise be ignored because of the antiquated ideals. Stereotypes about appearance particularly involving men and women evolved from the necessities presented by needing to survive in a different societal and environmental climate than what exists today. Keeping up appearance and stereotyping particulars have changed over time but human nature will always keep events interesting.
