Many adhere to religious principles that consider sex before marriage a sin or discourage the use of contraceptives. Others think the risk of pregnancy and the rate teens are having sex is reason to provide teens with contraceptives.

Oral contraception and all other birth controls which could be employed by modern couples were condemned by most Christians up through the 1930s, when things began to get a bit more complicated.
