What is a sex-positive feminist? It is a woman who believes in and practices sex-positive feminism as a rule. Sex-positive feminism to other names in addition such as pro-sex feminism, sexually liberal feminism, or sex-radical feminism. The sex-positive feminism movement came about in the early 1980's and was the result of those women who made did a lot to take a stand against pornography. Some of these specific feminists were Robin Morgan, Catharine MacKinnon, Diana Russell, Andrea Dworkin, Susan Brownmiller, and Dorchen Leidholdt.

Each of these individual feminists had their own position and agenda about pornography as a rule. These feminist fought so passionately against pornography because they considered it to be way demeaning and degrading to women as a group overall. Women was truly exploited in the pornography industry it is said and this encouraged both the chances of cultural attitudes that can result in sexual harassment and rape for them in addition.

Feminists who have taken a stance against pornography on behalf of women everywhere each view different types of porn differently. Where many types of porn are very unacceptable, some forms of it cannot do any harm at all or does not even pose a threat. Some of the feminists who were against pornography however did not want a total band placed on it either. This position on pornography was a small minority in number concerning certain women feminists.

A sex-positive feminist is a woman who is every inch the woman and who is totally secure in the person she is to herself and to others. She is someone who has no restraints placed on her concerning all areas of her life that include sex and whatever else. This is what defines her as a feminist and makes her way special as both a woman and a champion for women's rights.

Women activists began fighting the bad side of pornography in the late 1970s and their efforts reflected itself in the formation of specific anti-pornography feminist organizations. One of these organizations was known as being Women Against Pornography and it offered a wide range of things as a rule. Besides the many educational events, speeches, and slide shows, Women Against Pornography also had tours of the sex industry to inform and educate people about pornography and some of its many negative aspects. Awareness had to become a reality on the bad side that appeared to be offensive to women and it highlighted the topic very successfully through these organizations.

Sex-positive feminism does not only fight the oppression of women in any way and every way. It also does sex-positive feminist and other women proud as well in a number of different ways. A sex-positive feminist is someone that knows who she is from a sexual standpoint too. This movement chiefly expresses that an essential part of a woman's freedom is to have complete sexual freedom. A sex-positive feminist will go up against any kind of legal or social attempt that will try to control the sexual activities that occur between consenting adults. Governments, those who are not in favor of feminism, and even other feminists, can either promote these types of efforts.

A sex-positive feminist is in complete control of her sexual being and the woman that she is to both herself and all those she loves or holds in high esteem. She believes that anything consensually is accepted and it does not matter what anyone else thinks or believes about it personally. She also supports the fundamental idea that women can either have sex or not have sex if they choose to. The decision is totally up to her and her alone. A woman who has total sexual freedom as well as other personal freedoms is one who is complete and is content.
