The football star died on Tuesday after collapsing during the Primera Liga match against Getafe. On Saturday, Puerta was able to walk to the dressing rooms where he had a second collapse before being taken to the hospital. The 22 years old player arrived to the Virgen del Rocio hospital in Seville alive, but a couple days later his condition was very serious and Puerta could not stand the four heart attacks he suffered.

The condition of the football player at the hospital was very unfavorable since he suffered damage in his organs due to the lack of oxygen to his brain caused by the heart attacks. The dead of Antonio Puerta represents a big loss for the Spanish professional league.

The life of the young football player has gone away and all Seville has been touched by it. On Wednesday, hundreds of fans gathered in Sánchez Pizjuan stadium to show their condolences to Antonio's family and friends in a memorial service to his honor.

The qualifier match against the AEK Athens was postponed to the next month by the UEFA, while the Champions League match against AC Milan will go on as planned. Lamentably, this is not the first football loss some other outstanding players have died in the past years. In 2003, Marc Foe during the semifinals of the Confederation Cup, in 2004 Miklos Feher of the Benfica, the Portuguese Unaio Leiria in 2005 and one of the most recent tragedies, the lost of the 17 years old Victor Guerrero who died during his way to the hospital after collapsing during a training.
